damm it, that is confusing now.

By the way that click is possibly the circuit opening relay.
I took one out of a toyota camry and it was kind of in behind the cd player on the car body.

it still does!! and has an annoying ticking noise at the end.

this is normal unfortunately. in the circuit opening relay above you can see there is a capacitor and resistor in series with the L1 solenoid coil. when shut off [either by key or AFM [however mine is MAP]] that arrangement will hold the cct on while the capacitor 'leaks' charge [there is a proper name for this but IDK] thru the coil.

So the capacitor in the circuit opening relay is powering the high performance fuel pumps for 2 seconds after it is shut off?

I dont know much about electronics, but would a small capacitor be able to run the pumps just on residual charge?

also the diagram above is incorrect for the 1G-G at least. the L1 solenoid is powered to the ECU at the FC pinout and the other side is connected to battery thru Main Relay switch. the MREL pinout holds this power on, and is also switched by ECU

the capacitor in the cct above powers the solenoid which keeps the relay switch closed

So I take it it's the capacitor that allows the fuel pump to run for 2 seconds until it discharges? Or is there a special relay that remains on for 2 seconds after power off?

Ok this is all starting to go over my head hahaha

Do you know why the ecu is holding the "main" relay power on?

can we power the main relay from the ignition rather than the ecu power?

    Cheers for the help

Looks like you are right and it isn't correct. My appologies. I'll fix it up in a sec.

I did look at the 1G diagrams that I also had, but it seems 1G-E was the same as I posted which must have been what I saw at my quick inspection, and assumed all the 1G were the same (Incorrect).

Going off ta23-mbzq-nnr diagram the ISCV is powered from the same relay that powers the fuel pump.

So can we leave that relay there and run a new one off the ignition for the fuel pumps?

When i stripped my old soarer I didn't find this one, maybe I missed it but are some located in the ECU? Or Never?
