No that sounds about right. AT operating temp I have 35-40 psi depending on how hard I'm driving it and 70psi max as I rev up past 2500rpm.
When its cold however max's out at 80psi.
my gauge could be dodgy. im seeing about 60-70 psi max.

sweet m8 cheers for that. so what do you get at idle?

Sorry I ment to say I get about 35-40 at idle ( 1100rpm ) and max pressure of 70.

O.K
i get about 10 psi at idle and 60 at 5500.
I have a feeling its the sender/ gauge its an autometer electronic job.
I think ill put a mechanical gauge to check it and see if its the gauge or not.

I have an autometer electric. Just a normal Sport-comp jobbie that im getting my readings off.
Its on a length of braided line too, so it might even be altering it.

cheers for that guys ! that is really useful info to me as i had always wondered about it.
I got the gauge from a mate years ago ( it was in a 2ltr escort ) and he used to have a low reading at idle too so thats what makes me think thats its the gauge / sender.
I have basicly beenusing the gauge just to tell me that i have some sort of pressure there!!

Oh yes I should of mentioned my pressure readings are off a mechanical oil pressure guage that is T-peiced onto the turbo oil supply line. And the supply line is tapped out of the original 4AGZE oil pressure sender hole.

yeah thats the same way mine is setup.

Eeep, is that solid mounted to the block? With that amount of weight on it i have seen Speedflow fittings fail quite spectacularly and nastily.
The worst one that i have seen photos of is on a guys Cosworth as seen here:
I would highly reccomend either bracing it or mounting it on a flexible line.

I agree, my T-peice is supported and is further down the line so that there is no weight at all on the block fitting.

so whats do people think are better.....electric sender or mechanical oil pressure gauges?

I think thats what has caused that !
But i do see what you guys are talking about !

The rail is attached to the motor, but the reg wasnt mounted to anything. Hence there was a large longditudinal load off the axis of the mounting point (i.e. the fuel rail). Same with yours, only the mounting point is the boss in the block.
That one ended up in a $4k engine fire.

you CANNOT (and should notOriginally Posted by slide86
) have a mechanical gauge inside the cabin of the car, in case of leak/failure/fire etc.. you should also not mount a mech gauge on the bonnet due to ped damage...
a mech is generally faster reactiong that an elec one, so for a race car, it might be vital (difference between cheap and very expensive rebuild) but for road car, you are prettymuch stuck with electric... which is not that bad really...
