thats true, but without measuring they look very similar, as per the two pics below...
with the main difference that the F has round holes in side of casing as well as rectangualr, whereas G doesn't (in this example at least)

We are looking for a torsen to go into the front of a Hilux 4x4 we won't be doing any drifting with it

A Torsen would be oretty average in a 4WD wouldn't it? Most single spin as soon as you unload a wheel, although there is some potential that the later ones have a degree of preload to prevent? I'm dubious myself. The LSD you have would be much better i would have thought?

He's going to run it in the front diff, so I guess he's going to run a clutch type in the rear. A friend of mine has a rather tasty GTR (450rwkw) he runs a torsen in the front as he finds it much nicer to steer under power.

But you'd be after traction is what i was thinking....understeer wouldn't really be a concern?

Anyways, just curious as much as anything.

if the front diff is after the centre diff, and one of the front wheels spins, then the rear wheels will get traction no?
GT4 has open front, viscous centre and torsen rear, but you never sit there with just 1 front wheel spinning...?

we like to be able to steer when in 4 wheel drive. The tighter the front diff is the harder it is to steer. If we just wanted traction over rocks etc a locker is the way to go. If traction is lost with having a wheel in the air with a torsen a bit of pressure on the brake pedal will send power to the wheel on the ground

Yeah yeah still traction to the rear.....i did get stuck once in the GrpA on a wobbly driveway with one rear and the diagonally opposite front off the ground, did the brake tap thing Just not something i figure you want to do with a 4WD seeing you are often on/off traction....but i stand corrected

yeah, when i think of 4wd, i think 2 wheels on ground, but i thought it would work ok.. i also stand corrected
