The ribs on the underside remind me more of Cast Pistons rather than Forged IMO.
Hey guys,
I have a set of used pistons in what appears to be a fairly good condition acl forged race series packaging box. I want to verify if they are in fact acl forged pistons, or if not what they are.
They are obviously to suit 16v as the cuts in the tops suggest. They have "ARI" cast into the bottom of each piston. They could be standard 16v N/A or maybe Forged 4agze items??? I don't know. But, I'm hoping one of you guys will....
Thanks in advance.

Looks like factory-ish 4AGZE pistons.

I just did a little more searching - I think they are factory 8.0:1 gze pistons - But a confirmation would be awesome. They will be going in a turbo silvertop 20v, but maybe the higher comp versions would be better...

Most of the people i've seen rebuild/build a turbo/sc 4a use the higher comp 8.9:1 pistons. But i spose it all depends on budget....everything always does lol![]()
Looks like factory 8.0:1 pistons to me.
Thanks for the replies guys.![]()

hmmmmmmmmm, not to buck the opinions so far... but there is one area that does NOT look like a factory piston..... the outside at the pin location... OEM pistons are not cut back like these.... and the intake "eyebrows" are cut into the OEM low comp slug... but do not appear to be the same in his photo
Here is a pic of the 2 different OEM 4AGZE slugs....

Information is POWER... learn the facts!!
Are 4agze pistons a full floating gudgeon pin? meaning do they require the circlips to hold the pin in place?
which bit near pin does not look like factory? the hi comp pic below has extra bits oout of the pin area, but otherwise looks identical?
as for the valve flycuts, perhaps it is just the angle, and that they are partially filled with gunk?
that the coating starts from halfway between the 1st and 2nd compression rings, indicates it is a stocker also.

I was going to mention the floating gudgen pin as well. It has the shape of the bigport ZE piston but I am sure I can see a circlip groove in there
