    Default A340E with 1G-GTE

    Hi guys,

I am trying to run my 1G-Gte with A340E auto tranny..I just put in hooked up wires everything seems quite normal but It had very abrupt shifting. days and hours of trouble shooting i figured out that tps was bad, after changing tps now tranny is shifting properly. What the problem left is L and 2 ranges. ECU turns off Sol no 1 even in L range and tranny get shifted to 3rd gear. tranny behaves in L and 2 as it is in D. What i think I must tell ECU that tranny is in L or 2 range to prevent ecu turning Sol No.1 off. I didnt get any Neutral start switch cable with tranny.
I got the plug and pin description of NSW from automotive101 but I am not sure which wire to connect at ecu and where.
I opened my ecu box and found three suitable pins (i guess) 1st=NSW, 2nd=L and 3rd = S.
I guess NSW is Neutral Start Switch as it is still hooked with manual clucth. Rest both L & S i guess should be connected to L and 2 range position wires...
    Can someone confirm it

    further more I am getting only 3.4 V at WOT on VTA shouldn't i get 4.5v - 5V

Have a look at any wiring diagram.
You'll see that there are input's to the ecu for when the shifter is in L or 2
These need to be wired up.
Normally its all part of the engine/tranny loom, so doesn't need touching, but if you'e done some butchery it may be something that needs looking at.

You'll also need to wire up +12v to the correct pin on the gbox, otherwise the L and 2 outputs won't be doing anything.

I already downloaded from toymod forum but none is telling what i am looking for. What diagram tells is L,S goes to Auto tranny BUT Where????

I have moved out manual transmission and trying to work with auto and didnt got any wire cable. I figured out connector as mentioned in A340E document (autoshop101 )

I am just asking where L and 2 positions wires should go? I havent seen any suitable pins on ecu besides L and S pins and really dont want to try without confirmation from someone

someone might have done butchery b4

Is the ECU just an engine ecu, or an engine and tranny ecu.
I think all 1G ecu's are just engine ecu's, and inwhich case the L and 2 wires go to the separate tranny (ECT) ecu.

On the auto tranny the two wires go to the position selector switch, near the front on the RHS.

Cruzida from what i've seen the Gen 3 1g-gte ECU is a ECU and Tranny ECU. On Toyodiy for late model z20's with the gen 3 1g-gte, the Auto ECU in the kick panel isn't listed, or it is listed but says "Not Applicable"

I remember on my Gen 3 Auto ECU that the wires to control the solenoids connected to the ECU, as I remember testing them with a multimeter directly from the ECU plugs on the harness going to the ecu.

Z2TT is right we dont have any seperate ECT-ECU for tranny. Engine ECU have pins for S1, S2 and S3 and shifts pretty good in D range. only problem left is in L and 2 ranges. thats why I was asking about proper pins for L and 2 range...
Anybody ever connected L and S pins of ECU ??? I beleive L should be connected to L and S to 2 range... But I just found a document of 1G-GZE it says L is R range and S is P range.
    here is link to document
    http://www.sssautomotive.com.au/1GGZ...%20pinouts.pdf

on page 2 (pin17,18) it says S is P range and L is R range. But it doesent make sense u dont need to tell ecu that it is in P or R. From NSW pin Ecu determines whether shift lever is in P or N or else and from L and 2 ECU determines whether shiftlever is in L or 2 range, if it in not found in L or 2 range then ecu thinks it is in D range. it is toyota's practice in all 1985-1995 ECUs whereever vehicles dont have ECT-ECU. In R range A340E is mechanically controlled not electrically....
Have i looked at wrong document or misunderstood doc???
    Help guys

R is for Reverse, and P is for Power (ECT switch) - See page 1 for P

I'd be pretty confident that L and S are Low and Second.
