Default What diffs do Tarago's have?

What diffs do Tarago's 80's-90's have? only Fseries? or did some run somethings else?

Reason I'm asking is a while ago I pulled a diff from a Tarago at a self serve wrecker that measured the right width for my application but I couldn't find the build plate or model code on the van anywhere. So I assumed it was an F-series but having gotten it home and apart it doesn't look particularly strong or much bigger than a T-series.

The taragos you talk of have F series diffs, however they have a G series tailshaft flange pattern.

Tarago's also ran "E" series centres, mostly on the bog standard model GLS etc. The RV actually had the "F" series, but are way wider that that required for early Celica's, so there should still be lots out there.

    cheers Chuck.

YR2* Taragos run either E or F series diffs.

AFAIK the F only came in the top end model (YR22, 4Y-E), the rest got Es.

I've personally pulled an F out of a 1990?? YR22, and found E diffs in other similarly shaped vans at the wrecker.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.

Umm, isn't it pretty much behind your knees where you sit in the drivers seat? Little silver plate thingy. I got an F282 (i think from memory) from a YR22, it has 10 bolt mains if that helps you compare / identify at all.

Whoa, talk about an overbuilt bottom end on a 100hp van motor. And where did they fit all those bolts??

Yes, I know you mean diff centre to diff housing bolts. Unfortunately as far as I've seen, all T, E and F series diffs have 10 bolts. S series has 8.

Easy to spot, look for the EFI or i badge on the tailgate. The big block 2.2 all got a 7.5 inch diff, must be that powerhouse 4y-e shredding the smaller diffs :s, haha

The later YR22 spacias also have a F series

Rumor has it that the 4x4 models have a F series with a lsd, EPC says its so, 4.3 ratio. But I've yet to see one from a vehicle so I'll say it's a rumor till we get evidence. 5 stud too.
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new

If its 4x4 and 5 stud you are likely to find its an oddball stud pattern (5x140) with a very big centrebore that you need to machine down before you can redrill it.
