Why are you blowing TA22 diffs?
There is a T series diff at Hamilton Wreckers 0355719222
as the title says i keep killing diffs in my celica, i have looked around and ive noticed that ppl are using hilux diffs, the problem is i dont want to have to cut down a diff. is there a way i can strengthen the t292 centre?? or will i need to find a t392( i gave it away, i didnt realise they are hard to find :'( )??
i am going to go to a diff place tomorrow to see if there is a 4wd diff that will fit in my centre.
any ideas appreciated

why dont you want to cut down a diff?
Im not allowed to advertise in my sig, so see the classifieds.
Mazda 1300... Rotary powered because no one would make me some 4AGE engine mounts!
The TA22 are coil spring rear arent they?
Surely that opens up to alot of options. Or do you still need to move the mounts. Maybe a F-series diff could work from a crown(not sure on model, but i think it was early) You mightn have to cut it down. Depending on what wheels you want to run and track wdith compared to the front.
However considering the hilux diff has been done so many times, it would be easier to get info on it.
what exactly do you keep blowing in the diff? Smashing gears, or breaking pinion bearings...?

the early hilux diffs (1370mm not 1410mm) can be used in a ta22 with out being shortened...i think
Got good condition 23/28 bonnet hinges? pm me
That is true, they are out of the RN2X series of hilux. I have one that I am doing up at the moment, and if you break one in a TA22, you need to revise your driving style. Also the G series has a plethora of LSD centres available, and the MA70 supra rear disk brakes bolt on with minimal effort (search the forum for the details).Originally Posted by kugzs
I suggest
1. procure RN2X diff, LSD centre and MA70 brakes
2. determine required mounting equipment and procure
3. swap mounts from existing diff
4. procure and install all new bearings and seals
5. ???
6. Profit!!

don't the TA22's run a T-series diff? That's what I'd always assumend since they run a T-series motor, and T-series gearbox?
Correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't you go on a bit of a splurge and buy a Afermarket centre, as all the jap sprinters have T-series rear ends?

Not all TA22's have a T diff; early models have the smaller D series.

the 1410mm hilux fits also you just have to run fwd offset wheels.
thats wat im running in mine but obviously you still have to change the mounting points on the diff![]()

Ahh yes, the infamous FWD offset... if you like that sorta thingOriginally Posted by hypo23
If you change either the offset or stud pattern of the diff, you will need to either do something about making the front the same, or put up with having different stuff for front and rear, and being stuffed if you get a flat and have the wrong spare. The G series can be modified to 4 stud, or you could chase down a front brake upgrade (very needed in TA22s) and change the front over. Or you could get an F series diff, cut it down, and put on ST141 corona avante rear disks and be happy. Then you get a good diff, plenty of LSD available, and rear disks without having to change the front end.

i get breaking teeth off the input shaft bit, i just thought it would be a bit of a stuff around trying to modify a diff to suit.
reason for breaking them - look at my avatar
as for o man ra23 who said "(very needed in TA22s)" my front brakes lock up too easy already.
also o man ra23 - can u please pm me full deatails on how to do the hilux diff.
thank you

you can have a powerful engine and not blow diffs, plenty of people do it its about how you drive. clearly you give your car a hard time and thats fine, just bite the bullet and spend the money on a big diff, it will work out cheaper in the long run.
also, your front brakes locking up easy means nothing as to their effectiveness.
