considered that too, i dont want to be pulling the hubs off, plus its a bit$h to smack out the old studs and get the new ones in!

do you really think i would be stupid enough to go buy a set of rims without looking at my options first???

lol dude, your having problems with your wheels hitting the calipers.
this is a result of those particular wheel having too high of an offset.

if u had the same wheels, then to get them to fit u would need a lower offset. if u had +50's on yoru current wheels they would sit on the other side of the caliper ( obviously not possible, but theoretical)

therefore your problem is that your particular wheels have ttoo high of an offset
dont explain to me how offsets work, when its clear u dont understand it yourself properly.

and as far as your wheels sitting outside the gaurds with 5mm spacers.
    u gotta be kidding me

my mate has 18x9.5 +30 on the front of his aristo and fits flush (no issue)
your 19x8's would need to have an offset of +11 to be the same as his wheels.

as u have stated, yoru rims have an ofset of +38, therefore u would need 27mm spacers to have issues with outside clearance.

each wheels spoke design and clearance is different, therefore comparing offsets to different wheels is pointless and wrong.

your aussie koyo's have a poor spoke and clearance design, hence why even tho they have a lower offset than standard, they are still too high of an offset ( for those particular wheels) for the aristo

You covered this in the last part of your post, but its not necessarily the offset thats the issue, just the wheel design. You can have a 0 offset wheel with next to no dish courtesy of a thick hub section.. and hence awesome caliper clearance.. The reverse is then true, you can have a 0 offset wheel with hektik dish and shit caliper clearance courtesy of flat spokes and a thin hub section. So the same (or higher) offset wheels would probably fit if they were just the right type.

Woggin - surely it is time to admit the fact the wheels don't fit and just sell them and move on? You now have a set of fitting wheels to run in the meantime?

i am not in the position where i can sell my 19's and afford to buy another set, i know the wheels dont fit with the bigger pads, that doesnt bother me since i have the new rims, i just wanted to know whether there would be any erratic handling characteristics that would arise from using the 16's on the front.

The difference in the sidewall alone (inc flex) will create handling issues. You will be basically be left with a car with a hard sprung front with flexible tyres, and softer sprung rear with inflexable tyres. Yay for understeer...

    Sounds fun!

Obviously you want to put on better brakes so that you can drive it harder, otherwise it would be for aesthetic (rice) reasons and you don't care about that as you've stated. Being able to put on your better brakes will not make up for having a car that has worse handling.

Dude, those brakes are going to take like 20,000km's before they'll wear down sufficiently to get the 19's to fit.

You have a set of 16's, just fit them, and sell the 19's.

Then buy some other rims when they come around.

You need to consider the effect on the ABS. It could come on earlier if the ABS computer senses the imbalance of wheel speeds. It's possible the ABS might have a learning capacity but it's worthwhile doing some study.

hmmm, thats an ultra good point, the difference in circumference will be less than 1% but nonetheless good point!!

Wouldnt a change in rolling diameter (radius) also effect the amount of torque the brakes are able to extert? (absorb?)

ie. different dia. front to rear changing the brake bias?

i wouldnt expect it to be much,
especially with only a 1% difference in rolling diameter.

    Hi,

Related to whats been discussed here. I got 205/55/16's all round. I want to get Bridgestone Potenza REO50's, but closest size avaliable to mine are 225/50/16. Since the profile is 50, would that have a bad effect on the drivability or anything like that since rear wheels are smaller than front?

    Thanks.
