    to quote cruzida/peewee

1UZ's should get 12-14L around town (depending on how heavy your foot is) and 9-11L on the highway (per 100km's).
    This is with aircon off.
Any 1UZ that is not in this region (and is being driven nicely) has issues somewhere (or is in a very heavy car)

To get better fuel economy there is a lot that can be done.
    New cats ($400ish)
    Clean injectors ($300ish)
    New plugs ($120ish)
    New leads ($250ish)
    New dizzy caps ($90ish)
    New rotors ($50ish)
    New o2 sensors ($120ish)
    Clean AFM ($15)
    Clean ISCV
    Clean TB

You just have to weigh up whether you are willing to spend the money only to get either a minimal result, or potentially no result at all.

The CAT warning light hasn't come on....
The Auto box is actually quite good.....
    I have used differant fuel....

As far as 'more' fuel, $20 would get me about 40kms......

I would start by checking the output of the o2 sensor. Ussually this can be done through the Diagnostic port, I know on my Soarer the Diag port has an "ox" terminal so you can check the output of the o2 sensor with a multimeter.

It's worth it to get your injectors cleaned, one way or another cleaner you'll know your injectors are good.

This might be a longshot, but fuel tank leak?
    Fuel line leak?

Yep, two different sensors. One is for the ECU and the other for the gauge on the dash. If the temp sensor for the ECU is reading incorrectly then it will run rich all the time.

Ok, thanks for the tips guys.

I will check the Temp sensor and the O2 sensors and let you know if it made any differance.

Nah man, I have never changed it in the 2 years i've owned the car. I should and will soon.

How would the fuel filter cause excess fuel consumption? Wouldn't, if anything, it cause less fuel to get through if dirty?

    Thanks
    JoJo

EDIT: Just wondering guys, are the RYCO fuel filters ok with the Celsior? I just checked and they are $52 so I'd imagine the Genuine ones would be much more...... Are they worth it?

To me it sounds people are just saying things without actually knowing, albeit a couple. Injectors are a possibility but normally unlikely. The coolant temp sensor as a couple have stated has a bearing on fuel consumption. If it is not working correctly it will give mixed temperature readings (hot or cold) to the computer, the computer then feeds in however much amount of fuel it may need. But with a wrong reading to the computer it could be pouring in fuel.
