Easiest way is do the maths like you do on diff ratios divide the large diameter cog by the small diameter cog or vica versa which ever one it is and you will get what ratio it suits. As long as you know what ratio your diff is.
Cheers Brett.

Just a thought.sounds like back to the drawing board.
I GUARANTEE you that for the 3 tyre sizes listed above (and consequently anything within 5mm either side) those numbers are correct

...... here's something farked up for ya:
I just got the speedo sender from an RT142 gearbox, which has the ~28.5mm diam nylon gear, and it fits and works in my alloy sammich plate W58. The W58 is from an MA61, if that makes anything different?
...... butt scratcher?!
And yet I got the very box that sender came out of and my W58 (I presume) speedo sender from my old steel plate job dont do squatOriginally Posted by The Witzl

Sorry to grave dig, but i need a little help.
I have a W5X variant gearbox in my car, and it is reading 10km/h slower then it should be (so doing 100km/h, my speedo is reading 90km/h)
I pulled out the speedo driver and i've got a 10-31 tooth driver in there. Which ratio would i need to goto to get it back upto spec (100km/h at 100km/h). And which car should i be pinching it from?

11:31 will be close to spot on. (unless I did the calcs arse about...:S)Originally Posted by -==L=a=N=c=E==-
Not sure if that exists
11:32 is the closest that exists I think (ex RA65)? (~96 indicated for 100).

I'd suggest draining the oil, and then removing the gear!Originally Posted by -==L=a=N=c=E==-
It will be stamped onto the Nylon gear!

Ok, i just pulled it out of the gearbox again, and looked for the markings.
It has a 11-32 wheel on it.
So if im to get it to be 10% faster, which wheel should i be picking? i assume the 11-30 tooth?

Whoa - blast from the past guys! Just doing a bit of searching and found this thread.
I recently put a 3TGTE with a W58 (steel sandwich plate) into my TA22 and the speedo is reading what seems to be about 10-12% faster than the speed I am actually travelling.. What would be my best choice in speedo gears/teeth?
Sorry to dig an old thread, but better than spamming the forums with a fresh one on the same topic IMO![]()

You are first going to need to find out what gears you currently have, which should be printed on the plastic gear of the speedo drive. This can be removed from the gearbox while in place so isnt too difficult, that is assuming they are meshing properly.
Then you can use Norbies gear calculator to work out what you need and you will need your gearbox, diff & tyre size and hope that you dont need to change the one in the gearbox as thats a remove box/split the casing job.
