then you will have no problems and a happy life

If you have troubles getting the sump to seal with RTV sealer you just need to be more careful cleaning up the surfaces.
Use both a water based and an oil based solvent on the surfaces. I rub down the surfaces with metho and get a fresh rag and then do it again carby clean.
I would have done 10 sumps like this and have never seen a leak![]()
gotta do my sump soon, so this is a good thread for me

I used a blade to seperate baffle, sump, and block, and then remove as much sealant as possible. After which it was a wire brush until spotless followed by a wipe with petrol then washed out with water and left to dry.
Also bent the pan and baffle back to dead flat.

i usually clean both surfaces with turps/carby cleaner/thinners/something..... it eats thru the toyota sump goo enough to provide a clean surface for re-sealing.
I've never had a leak either.... even on ones were i have just used a paint scraper to get the old sealant stuff off, and just whacked new sealant on.
...... butt scratcher?!
Guess I'm gunna find out how it all went tomorrow as Ive done another big end so its coming off again![]()
Loctite have an instant gasket maker. Its a black sealant and comes in a presure pack type can. Its not spray on its proper gasket stuff. I work at a car dealer we use it to seal stuff like that and in the time ive been there i have never seen any leaks with this stuff. I used it on my diff in my celica and not a single sign of leakage!!
