Default Where to get 1uzfe Oxygen Sensor?

    Hi,

I want to replace the oxygen sensor.

Toyota want $265.00 but theres only one in the country at brisbane.

Can i use an aftermarket one?

Alternatively i have two 4 wires sensors. Can i use a 4 wire sensor as a single wire?

After a few phone calls; Aftermarket is $185.00 and from here : http://soarerparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=PR0000X201 is 32+gst.

Anyone used the soarer parts ones before? Thats damn cheap!
    Thanks,
    Adam

Use a generic one and attach your plug. The extra money you pay is for the plug.
The four wire sensors have two wires for the heater one for earth and one for sensor . Provided you earth the earth wire and the sensor wire is NOT red it should work

I can confirm that the 2JZ is quite happy with generic aftermarket o2 sensors, so I think you would be safe going down this path with the 1UZ as well

    Yeah ill be going aftermarket.

I cant justify 265 from toyota. If i could get them cost price or alot cheaper i would go toyota.

Even at $150 each from Toyota, thats still $240 more than getting aftermarket.
Even if they only work 50% as good as Toyota (unlikely, something more like 95% is what I'd expect), then thats still A LOT of fuel you'll need to go through to make up that $240 extra spendage.

I've put $30 sensors on 2 1UZ's now, one had both replaced, one just had drivers side replaced.
Both engines now achieve 9L/100km's on a highway run.

There are two different types used on 1UZs, single wire and the later 4-wire types (can be interchanged?)

I bought a pair of 4-wires from Soarerparts, can confirm that (aside from working out the wiring- colours are different) they are a direct fit and seem to work fine, getting around 10L/100km (sometimes less) in daily driving

Oxygen sensors are a consumable item, just like spark plugs. They're supposed to be changed every ~80,000km (some can be used up to 260km+ though). From what I understand, the output signal is standardised by the type of sensor - so OEM / after market should work the same way.

Bosch make universal 1, 2, 3 and 4 wire sensors with and without the flange, they make a lot of the OEM sensors so I guess the quality is equivalent to an OEM sensor. The single wire universal to suit the 1UZ = 0 258 986 501

Sciflyer - did you wire up the heater circuit or are you running them without the heater? I still haven't gotten around to changing the sensors on my car... looks like a prick of a thing to get to!

Buy a set of crows feet before you even try to change a pair of 1UZ o2 sensors in-situ.

And if the guy doesn't have a listed for a 1UZ, just get them for a JE Camira, its the same thread (no doubt 100000 other cars are too, M18x1.5)

bring the sample to your local autostore like repco or super cheap.

get a universal Bosch 1 wire sensor. it should work just fine and from memory it will cost you about $90.

Got me self a 4 wire universal (the car requires 4 wire) it works like a treat

I didnt do them on the car - i was fitting new manifolds so had them on the bench

The 1UZ 4-wire jobs just require getting the wiring right as the colour codes are different, and due to the type of wire they use it was a bit of a prick to solder but got there eventually

The track car is an early single-wire type and it will get some new ones too but again, only when the engine is out
