there should be a black metal shield between the motor and timing belts. usually looking at the back gives some indication of where the oil has been coming from.
unfortunatly the lower belt drive sholuld just slip off by hand.
that front corner has the oil feed to the head, i have had them leak there before.
as said, clean it down and run it without the cam covers and watch it leak.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.

Toyota Hilux 1998 ln172r x-cab D/T
Toyota Corolla 1986 ae82 twin cam 16
- Distributor, outer AND inner seals (Toyota does NOT sell nor list the inner seal as a part number)
- Crankshaft front oil seal
- Cam cover seals
- Cam seals
These are common places for oil leaking on a 4AGE, in that order, except cam cover seals which may leak due to poor refit from being removed and replaced many times. To get to the crank oil seal you'll need to remove the timing gear with a timing gear puller. Don't bash/prise it off by other means, you'll only break it and I'm not sure if Toyota still sell them.
