Any news on how yours went StuC?
yeah, cant afrford em. wade cams will be a shot for you. they'll measure up your cams, recommend grinds and can help with the shimming etc or at least talk with your engine builder.
Ahhhh, cause I have a friend in SG at the moment who is offering to buy me parts, but I dont have a clue as to anything I want![]()
All cams are not made equal{ im not talking there metalurgy}. Make sure you pick ones that are tried and tested, as some cams have good R&d and the others are just worked out profiles from other cams or a stab in the dark.
Choose a cam for the driving you are going to be doing 80% of the time.
Did you manage to find out about the shimless buckets? And if so what springs/valves go with them?
Cheers for all your help dude.
dont the 3s use shim under anyway? so there is not point at all getting shimless buckets! same price but instead of just changing a shim later on you have to change a whole bucket!
well im also looking at getting a set of different cams and was looking at doing the shimless buckets as well as a few bit and pieces but im assuming that you have to also run an aftermarket computer with a different/more agressive cams is this correct?
I am running aftermarket management, but I believe there is a threshold as to what the stock computer can take, if you didnt go anything too crazy I think it should be alright.Originally Posted by piggy
well the thing is ill be getting a gen 2 or gen 3 head aswell just becasue the gen1's don't have much in the way of aftermarket cams and and other aftermarket parts
Ok you guys talk with yourselfs.
any 4ag people, if your doing head work, get the bores cut for 3sg buckets and save yourself some money.
The Gen1 and Gen2 3S had shim over buckets, then Gen2 versions somewhat larger. It's just as easy to get the shimless buckets as it is to get shim unders and they're a bit lighter to boot.
whats the going price for 1zzfe buckets ? is it straight fit operation ?
Thought they were shim over buckets, thanks for clearing that up Joshstix.
For a single series of engines there is a lot of change in the buckets and shims.
Gen1 - Small diameter shim over buckets, about the same size as 4AG
Gen2 - Shim over buckets
Gen3 - Shim under buckets
Gen5/altezza - Larger diameter shim under buckets
