Manufacturers the world over unnecessarily fit extra parts to their automatic cars, when they don't have to.
Do you really need a harmonic balancer on an automatic car. The torque converter is filled with transmission fluid that must act as a dampener?

What about when a torque converter has lock up clutch applied, torque converter is not fixed to the crank to take any torsional stress its bolted to the flexplate which is bolted to the crank, run your car without one and tell us all how long it lasted and what broke.
harmonic balancer is at the front of the engine, the torque converter is bolted at the rear of engine on automatic vehicles, or in some cases at the rear of the car if the diff and gearbox are one piece of transmission..
yes you DO need your harmonic balancer as the engines and cranks are designed to have a balanced weight at the front and rear of the engine.....
in an automatic car the torque converter takes up most of the wieght, yet with a manual car the flywheel is very heavy so basically theres a heavy weight at the rear of the engine no matter what type of transmission....
DONT remove it and run your engine you could fuck EVERYTHING
