    Hey guys if it's any help to you's,

    I just bought one of these off eBay,
    its cheap and i chose the little bit higher pressure 4.5-6psi so i can set it right with my fuel reg!

    That looks identical to the facet ones.

    How did you find the noise?

    Mine was noisier then my engine.

    Not sure yet, just orderd it today, should have it tomorrow.

    it shouldnt be too bad, i had a bosch 550hp pump and when it was a boiling hot day, the pump was nearly as loud as the bridgeport brappin. it was terrbile.

    Then again it might be the new craze having a loud fuel pump like the big horsepowerd jap cars

    Yeah I have a bead on the facet ones but wanted to see if I can find something a little quieter? I will probably just order a facet and box it? Maybe some egg cartons or carpet on the outside!

    I might also head down to U pull it and see what I can find on the weekend too?

    Hey all,
    The facet style pump works fine if you fit it at the rear of the car near the fuel tank, run the fuel line via an inline filter to the pump.
    Then from the pump to the existing steel line to the engine bay,fit the pressure regulator at the end of the delivery line just under the carbys.
    From the regulator connnect to the carbs and block off the return line to the tank.
    I have mine running solex carbs on an 18RG and there is only a slight noise on start up as the pump builds up pressure.
    The pressure regulator is set on 3 psi any lower than this and the carbys starve for fuel.
    The only hassle is running a wire, via a relay,to the back of the car to the fuel pump,but for the extra effort you will be noise free.

    I dont mean to hijack this thred, my apologys,

    Ok so i fitted up my new fuel pump today, i havent got the pressure regulator yet.

    i had the return fuel line blocked off and had a few attemps of starting my new motor.

    i had fuel dripping out of all four butterfly/chamber thing's (forgot proper name lol) and the pump kept pumpin fuel with on igintion.. obviously flodded it. but am i ment to have the fuel return line blocked?

    or i just wait till i get pressure reg? pump is located in boot, pump is 4.5-6psi

    just a bit puzzled

    Ive been told fuel pumps should be "pushing" fuel not "sucking" it, any truth to this?
    A perfect example is the annoyingly loud electric facet pump on my 2tg, i placed it in the engine bay near the firewall before an in-line filter, is this ok or should it be as close to the fuel tank as possible as to "push" the fuel towards the engine rather than "sucking" all the way from the tank.

    EFI roller pumps are designed for pushing fuel.

    Most carby pumps are capable of sucking fuel. In the instructions for the facet, there is a note about keeping the fuel pump within 300mm of the tank (vertical direction). Your pump should be fine.

    Presumedly the float and needle in the carbies worked fine previously?

    if so, its probably a little too much pressure and just pushing the needle of its seat and causing the overfilling. You will need to test with the fuel reg in place to check.

    My fuel return line was blocked when i had the carbies and self regulating electric pump.

    it will be much more reliable mounted in the rear of the car under the fuel tank as you will be way less susceptible to vapour lock. There is a heap of room under there too.

    I reckon you're running too much fuel pressure and have overwhelmed the needle and seat and flooding the carbs. You definitely need a pressure reg, 4.5 to 6psi is too much.

    You can use the the return system if your pump has enough flow and you put of a restriction after the carbs and before the return. I'm running this system at the moment and seems to have fixed some of the hesitation i had on warm days. But i'm not sure its worth the effort.

    Easiest way to set it up is basically is to block off the return line and just have the regulated fuel end at the carbs.
