Question Hydraulic Fan Solenoid - 3VZFE

    Hi

I'm trying to check my cooling system as my camry is still overheating.

The fan is not turning as fast as it should be. I've read that they are controlled by hydraulic fluid coming from the power steering controlled by this solenoid and the fan PC.

Now I want to start at the solenoid and read that its on or near the power steering pump.
What does this solenoid look like? if its been disconnected this can cause the slow fan right? if its connected where do I start looking next?

    Thanks in advance

Not sure where your getting that info from, but thermo fans installed in Camry, with 3VZFE engines are electronically operated. They are triggered by a water temp sensor which is located on either the thermo housing or the upper radiator inlet housing.

Well there ya go! Never seen one. Every Gen 3 Camry that i've inspected has had a thermostatically controlled, electric fan.
    Kind Regards,
    Kurt.

4 cyl yes electric , all VDV10 are V6 and hydraulic fan
Solonoid is a 50 cent round cylinder on p/s pump ,
you can stop the fan at idle with yr fingers and
if engines getting hot the fan really only roars when you rev it.

I've asked the same question in toyotanation and they reckon that it should go faster as soon as the engine temp is on normal
maybe something else is causing my overheating...
Im gonna get it tested on Wednesday, see what the experts say

If it's anything like the xZZ3x Soarer hydraulic fan solenoids, if you unplug the loom to it or unplug the loom to the temp sensor, it should run at max speed.

if it goes at max speed? what does that mean? would the ECU Fan or the solenoid or the switch would be the culprit?

    update

Thermostat doesnt seem to be opening top hose hot, and bottom hose cold to feel. So replaced it with a brand new one, check the flow of radiator, bottom hose/pipe and still overheating just from driving around the block.

Took the thermostat off and run the engine and its circulating fine.
so bought another aftermarket thermostat same brand and model installed that temp gauge stayed 1/3 drove around the block overheated straight away.

Any ideas what could be causing this?
