Default sunshine coast mob? how about a regular meet?

After writing emails and posts about the potential demise of the TCCQ, i was thinking about how Clint over in Perth had a regular 'coffee convergance' meet every so often.

Example meet up he had in August

So i'd like to propose something similar and extremely low tech.

A meet up on Sunday morning every 2 months, somewhere relatively central with cheap food and shade. Maybe something like a rural cafe somewhere (Imbil?) or down the coast somewhere.

Just without the tourists and parking hassles (e.g. avoid the beach and Noosa and Buderim)? Or a BBQ spot (i'm always good for some over-cooked sausages).

All we do is loiter for a while and talk shit. It could even be family friendly if we avoid some of the more nerdy car stuff.

Great idea...but I wish you luck, going on a similar 'one off' outing I tried to organise a while back
Anyway, should something eventuate, i'd be keen to attend as much as possible if it was on a regular basis.
You havn't got much of a response here yet maybe you could PM a few of the known locals to get the ball rolling.
It would be great to have some sort of a regional register of Toymods forum members.
Would make it a lot easier to get their attention when something local is planned or happening

The MR2 club have regular monthly cruises with 10-20 cars attending, we have done a few sunshine coast area cruises before. If you throw a post up on the MR2 forums, you'll probably get a bunch of them to join in

Glen: agreed - the response has been less than spectacular ... and you're one of the few folks folks I know that lives up this way

Knightrous: i wasn't thinking of a cruise - just a regular meetup. Anywhere we meet is going to be a long drive for most of us so am just thinking simple.

Personally, I've always been a fan of meeting at large bodies of water as it's always cool and you have shaded spots to sit at - e.g. Wappa Dam or Cooloolabin Dam near Nambour? Lake Baroon or Kondalilla Fallsnear Montville ( they're a long way south for most folk), Lake Cootharaba justd north of Noosa?

The Sunshine coast is a large area so its always going to be hard to get a group of people together for a regular casual meet. Day, time, distance and age are all going to be obstacles.

Maybe you can start a poll and see what people want and where they are located to get an idea of where to start.

Some of the other forums have weekly and fortnightly meets which attract 10 to 20 cars each time but they are very local and at night. This might be worth a thought to get the ball rolling.

It would be good to see this happen and even though I'm in Brissy I'd be keen to meet up every now and then.

    Good luck.

I'd drive up for a chat and something to eat. It'd be nice to meet face to face with another MS user too.

I'm out for the weekend of 17-18 October doing rally volunteering & the weekend after will be birthday #1 for our young Mr Lucas.

But I will try to start a poll for a bunch of locations for a mid-November meet+greet?

I'd be in that. A brissy meet and then cruise to meet with Sunny Coasters...excellent.

The missus and I are always looking for excuses to go for a cruise and explore the Sunny Coast. I'm in for a meet most places up the Sunny Coast even though I voted for the Montville/Kondalilla Falls in the other thread.

I've never met anyone here so it'd be great to put some faces to names and talk shit about cars.

Edit: I'm in Brissy too so a meet with fellow Brisbaneians beforehand and all head up in convoy would be awesome. I'm easy on the date: don't usually work weekends...
