Hi mate, I spent around 20-40hours and built myself a speedo corrector from jaycar then reprogrammed the chip with my own program to fix it all up and it worked perfectly.

There is a guy on here who builds speedo correctors, well used to, one of those should work. I just tapped into the speedo sensor wires, and have the output going to the point in the car that used to have speed sensor from old non vvti loom going to it.

There is a picture going around of vvti ecu which has a speedo SP1 pin on it, this is wrong. Pales you are correct the VVTi models do not get the speedo signal from the dash anymore.

So to sum up (on JZZ30, JZA80 non vvti)
Speed signal from box to dash to (ecu, p/s, cruise etc)

Can confirm (JZZ30, JZX100etc VVTi) unsure of JZA80vvti.
Speed signal from box to ecu. Signals from abs/trac to (dash, p/s, cruise etc)

    To fix this.
    1) Find where the speed input wires used to come in from your old auto box (mine came in on passenger side J/B).
    2) Make a speedo corrector that won't dirty the signal from box too much (it is a 24ppr on mine).
    3) hook speedo corrector input to speedo from auto/manual
    4) Output goes to the old output points for the old speedo sensor.

Pales you will also have to live with a constant error in ECU which is Error 89. Traction control issue that I couldn't fix. I don't have TRC on my car and couldn't use the traction ecu. So my ecu now tells me I have a 89 error constantly and I can't get rid of it.

Other than that, its a beautiful engine.

    Justin.

Justin, you should make him one like yours and send it to him

All I can add is that,

    JZA80 VVTi Auto is:
Gbox -> Engine ECU -> Dash

    JZA80 VVTi Manual is:
Gbox -> Dash -> Engine ECU

On and O/D Light flashing all the time means an Auto Error Code. Check your error codes (Tc to E1 in diag box).

I have a Soarer so it tells me in english in diag mode There are 12 wires from the trac comp to ecu, if I knew someone who had a trc soarer around me and a CRO I could make up a circuit to fake being the trac ecu, but alas no one to help :-/

I guess I could make one up for Pales, also I have to buy a serial card for my PIC programmer. My new computer is too fast for my usb to serial convertor, just gets garbage from the chips.

I would advice checking out my topic, too
    http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/sho....php?p=1183274

The speed sensor in the A/T outputs approx. 24.000 sine-shaped pulses per kilometer. The sensor is inductive-type and is quite prone to noise, so care must be taken when tapping to its wires. When connected to the ECU, one of sensor's wires (SP2-) becomes DC 0.7V, and the other wire (SP2+) is your signal.

    Hey Justin,
thanks for the advice. Is this the type of speed corrector that would be suitable?
    http://www.jaycarelectronics.com.au/...T&SUBCATID=347

When you say yor programmed it yourself, what did you do? Can i just use this kit as is?

I have access to the SP2 and SP2- and also the inputs to the cluster.
do i tap into the SP2 and SP2- and put them into the input of the corrector and then the output goes to the blue/red and red for the cluster?

    Cheers Mike

    Hi Mike,

Sorry took so long to reply, the speedo corrector will not do it. I used this and built it but only modifies the signal slightly, so I reprogrammed the pic chip on it to do it right.

Buy one build it and send it to me I can put the software on it and tell you how to set it up to make it work for you. I will ask for a nominal fee of $50 if that is ok, have to go pull mine out, get the code of it (because I lost the source!!) and check the settings on the rest of the speedo corrector. Your paying for over 10hours of stuffing around trying to get this to work I will also test it before I send it back to you too.

    Hey mate,
Its strange you wrote back when you did... at 530-600 tonight i was fitting the kit to my car and thinking... wtf isnt this working!! haha the best i got it to was 180ks @ 35ks (gps speed)... better than it was, but that was at 99% reduction.

i might take you up on that offer, i thought about getting an aftermarket speedo, but i would rather keep the factory one.

does it matter that mine is a jza80 supra, i assume it wouldnt cos the motor is a 1jzvvti so it should be the same as yours.

would you set it up so I have some adjustment still? so i can tweak it to be spot on?

shoot me an email if you want mate.

    Cheers Mike

    Hows that for timing

I could put in some but that would require a rewrite of the code. I just wrote it to make it back to exactly as factory would have it, so it will be spot on to what you use to have. If you want adjustments later for wheel size etc just build another jaycar speedo corrector to place after it becaue it will work then

Pretty funny watching your car go 180 at idle on stands.

    yeh good timing.
yeh i dont need adjustment, just thougt it would be good if it was there if i needed it.

s is it any problem that its a 1jz vvti into a jza80 supra? because yours was into a soarer.
