1UZ into VS Cholodore

I purchased a VS commodore back in febuary...it had a blown water pump so I picked it up reasonably cheap, its had all of the suspension redone (bushes, shocks, etc etc) and all of the brakes done so I couldnt really say no, plus I needed something with a towbar to pull my jetski around.

Its served me as a daily since then with no issues at all but now the motor is getting very very tired (its been on Gas for about 10 years and I suspect that has something to do with it)

I quite like the car as its comfortable (for a commodore) and easy to just get in and drive so im thinking I might spruce it up with a new motor, easy option would be a replacement 3.8 or a 5 litre but I figure if im pulling the motor out I might as well put something better in there.

1JZ sprang to mind but then the temptation to turn it into a money pit is too great

1UZ seems the most logical option as i have seen them for as little as 1K with box, loom, AFM, ecu, etc

Questions

1. Off the shelf mounts and GB X-Member available?
2. Which headers fit (celsior or crown)?
3. shifter issues can the stock shifter work or do I just go and get a B&M shifter?
4. Celsior or Crown motor? (I want to use stock ECU so im thinking Celsior motor is best option with only one ECU for the motor instead of 62 of them)
5. Does it fit without custom brake master, booster, etc

I would like to do it without cutting anything out of the engine bay or trans tunnel...

has anyone done it...can anyone comment?

Here are your answers:
2/ Buy the mandrel bent headers for $550 from the link provided. Headers + 1UZ = horn + powaz
3/ no idea
4/ investigate how the commonwhore controls its stock autobox, and if the BCM will have a spastic if it doesnt get the signals from the original auto box.
5/ measure and compare to an LS1 - which has been done to death in a VS im sure, and people will be able to advise if there are clearance issues. Failing that - call the rodshop linked above.... they might know the answer!

mounts and GB X member were my big concerns...since I have found they are off the shelf I probably will do it

2) dont want to blow $600 on headers...this isnt for fasts...its for reliables...

Hey I know there are a couple of guys on lextreme that have done similar conversions. Take a look at the user luke454 as I'm pretty sure he has done a swap in the a VN which from my limited knowledge of commodores should be pretty similar. Also I think "Aussie Drifter" has done the conversion too.
