Yeah, I must have fluked getting the right gland nut supplied with my strut inserts, which saved some hassle. But machining the centre of the original nut would have the same outcome. Mine is fine, so I don't think you'll have any dramas.

my kyb inserts came with both types of gland nut; one coarse one fine.

why you'd cut your struts apart without dummying it all up and measuring first, I have no idea.

oh,that's right I read it on the internet it must be unequivocably true

    Hi,

ummmm, that'd be because it had been done many times before with success!. At the time i didn't have a celica for the setup to go into but i had the strut, springs, sleeve, rotors and calipers. The only thing i didn't have was the strut insert. I decided there was no point in spending another 280 on the setup when i didn't have a car for it to go into but wanted to get as much of it done so when i got a car for it to go into i didn't have to muck around doing it then.

    :-P

the point i am making is that whatever your reasoning, cutting before measuring for yourself did your head in later.

Huh, where did i say i didn't measure them? Everything was measured, taken off many other peoples results which were consistant? If anything it didn't do my head in. It all worked out perfect. No spacer needed. Would've needed to machine down the nut regardless to make it fit over the strut insert...............
