    Default jza70 problems need help!

i just baught a 1992 jza70 aero top limited for cheap from a mate that couldnt be bothered fixing it anymore. it runs perfect while its running but that only last 30 seconds upto 10minutes. then it just dies and sometimes wont start back up for about 5-10minutes the engine doesnt just cut straight out its like a gradual die that takes 5ish seconds. i was thinking it might be the fuel pump? how can i test this?

No error codes, replaced a fair few of the sensors.

any ideas would be great guys as i wanna try get it on the road pretty quik!

For the cost of a fuel pump (<$200) just buy a new one anyway.
    Also try a different ECU.

The FP pin is connected directly to the fuel pump, so either that wire is broken, or +B has no 12V ?

    Ninja edit.

The fuel pump fuse is OK?

    +B has power?

the funny thing is it starts and runs fine then dies and wont start for 5-10 mins then start and run for a little while again. if the fuel pump fuse was stuffed it wouldnt start at all ay? and ill have to take look at +b and see if thats getting power.. most strangest thing

Maybe the COR (circuit opening relay) is dodge?

    Or something like that

long shot but check the fuel lines, my 4runner had the lines too close to the exhaust and once it got really hot, car coughed and sputted and stalled, and would turn over and over and just cough......10-15 mins later, starts and drives fine, fuel was just gettin too hot in the lines, check where this exhaust sits!

Do the JZA70 have a separate fuel pump ecu like the JZA80 has? you can bypass that to get constant voltage

No, they run a Circuit Opening Relay (COR) for the fuel pump control

You come through with the facts as usual wilbo

I wonder why they named it circuit opening relay, its a bit of a redundant term isnt it, since all relays generally open or close circuits anyway lol

I think you mean Fuel Pump Relay (for the resistor).
Even cars with an FP ECU still run a COR (although its been renamed to 'Ignition Relay')

    a) they don't have one
    b) CSI's only operate when the key is at STA
