Question [MELB] Can anyone help me re-tension supercharger belt properly?

    Hey guys,
Just wondering if any of the melbourne guys have had experience with tensioning the supercharger belt?
I've still not managed to get rid of the squeal above 5000RPM! It's a brand new Gates belt #5PK940

    Can anyone help?

    - Cheers

I can't help from here but you could try some "belt grip" which is a spray on film to prevent belt slip if it's already quite tight.

PS. is the belt following the OEM path?

I had a belt on a 7MGTE that would squeal, but only at full throttle, full boost, and revs over 5000rpm (roughly).
Any other conditions it was perfect.
All 3 belts were new and AFAIK tensioned properly.
    Quite strange really.

That aside, throw some sugar on the belt and see if that works.

    Hey guys,
Yeah the belt is following the OEM path (only way it can go on really) - Could it be that a new belt requires some time to soften up?

Thanks for the help so far - would be great if someone in melbourne was willing to take a look in exchange for some beer or similar

    bloody complicated superchargers!
