Oil cooler will make minimal difference to engine operating temps, as far as I understand it. What helps is taking crap like AC condensors and stuff out of the way, they're harsh for flow.

i had the same prob, except i had no room at all behind the rad, like less than 30mm!
i'm massacring a few different fans to get a slim pair of fans to go on the front of the rad.
it might help if you run an oil cooler for your engine with a fan.
beer me!

You have pm Mullet.
True but they are needed for summerand the intercooler is just needed...
So yeah kinda sux..got 2 things blocking the bastard up now so hopefully 2 fans will help it.
Mmm im starting to think that i might need a thinner thermo fan than the 50mm one available...is there a thinner one and where can i get it?
I mite be able to run one 50mm Davies Craig on the left hand side but for right i mite need a thinner one...
How is PWR compared to Davies Craig?
I have a big intercooler, Oil Trans cooler, Air Con Condensor all in front of my radiator. I have minimal flow thru the grille - MY fans work perfectly...
DCSL14's are about $175 *retail* - but I have seen them heaps cheaper at various places.
Mate Autobarn are rorting artists..wanted to charge me $179 for some DCSL12!!!!
Where did you purchase yours from? And where have you seen them heaps cheaper?
Can any1 confirm if PWR is better or worse?
Anybody know of any 10" or 12" Thermos that are thinner than 5cm?
Not much room where I'm installing so need as thin as possible
spals are just over at 52mm,they are about the thinest i know of.
Cant move them around the core to open up more room if you know what i mean??
You mean move them around the radiator? No not really in the place I'm installing.
Been in contact with Davies Craig, thinnest they have is 50mm
SPAL are apparently very good. i was looking into this too.. can you mount on the other side and use a puller?? that will give you more space and more options,, hopefully lol
90' GT-Four ST185 RC motor ST205 gearbox!
New installs Ct20B and Rear Strut Brace!!
Next to come;
3SGE cams, Fidanza Adj Cams, WolfKatz fuel rail!!
SPAL are good, not too cheap though. AFAIK PWR are just rebranded generic fans.
Do you have minimal clearance all over, or just in a certain area? You could make an offset shroud and mount a single large fan somewhere. If you're that worried about temps, fit an oil cooler with a thermostat bypass - should make a bit of difference.
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.
Minimal clearance all over.
spal are good, but be careful of current draw, just finished wiring mine up on my intercooler, and melted a generic inline fuse holder in about 1 minute, not sure what the draw is, but needs some decent gear it seems, lucky i had some spares![]()

I was recommended Spal by some people here a while ago, I finally got to test the two Spal fans I bought recently, I am very impressed. My only input is that the so called "quiet" ones aren't much more quiet than the straight bladed ones so don't go out of your way for those.
Just shop around, I got quoted some stupid prices at first.

au thermo's are the bomb diggity, they standard are pretty damm thick but can be trimmed right down,
ill measure mine tomorrow, can be bought second hand for around $100 a set which includes a much needed shroud, or brand new for around 190 on ebay
