Exclamation Update good & bad news

    Update

it was just unburnt water, after running the engine for a while all good now
doesnt blow any smoke at all.

now the timing belt tensioner let go

Im torn to what I should do now....
I called up Toyota and its $121 for the tensioner
Burson can do it for $107

Now EBay has a few kits available

this one is the cheapest $150 with a waterpump (made in china)

Better Quality with Bosch Belt GMB Tensioner NO waterpump inc $175
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Toyota-Camry-...lenotsupported

But I've checked the condition of my belt and it looks great no worn edges or teeth, as this was replaced maybe 40,000 klms ago and its a better brand GATES.

I've read something that 3VZFE are non interferance, that when your belt breaks the engine just stalls and wont break anything else.

Any advice which path should I take? Should I just buy the kit and keep the unused items for later?

    Thanks

    Another update
    bad news... again

Car is running fine, new head gaskets, timing belt, tensioner, pulleys, idles good, doesnt blow any white smoke, or any milky residue on the oil.

now the car overheats after a 500 metre trip not even on a heavy traffic.

the mechanic whos done the headgaskets, and timing belt said the water pump is pumping coolant, thermostat is working but he reckons there is something wrong with the cooling system
particularly the hydraulic fan as apparently when the engine is idling and on normal temp he could stop the fan with his fingers/hands when it should be really difficult to do so as the fan should turn harder on normal temp to catch up???
also adviced me to get my radiator check for flow.

    Does this sound alright?

also will unplugged oxygen sensor cause overheating? as the wire on the oxygen sensor keeps coming off.

if you can stop the fan with your hand (dont suggest going this thou, use an old rag to hold it back) on startup ie the engine is cold coolant is also cold then thats fine but if the engine has been running for a good 20min and you can still hold the fan back without much resistance.

your themonic fan has cracked it and youd prob need a new one.
    Cheers, Alex

yeah I was watching my mech placed his hand while the engine is on idle and he said theres not much resistance on it at all, he said it should push his hand harder that what it is now. The car's temp gauge was on the middle so normal operating temp.

Im taking it to a radiator/cooling joint on Monday to get the system checked

    Hi razor,
just readng your cono about your cooling fan issues with the 3Vz-FE engine you mite want to check to make sure that the electrical conector on the power steering pump has been reconected as this controls the speed of the hydraulic cooling fan and will have been disconected when your heads were removed it is a common mistake as i had the same problem after i did the head gaskets on my 97 vienta with the same engine. If it is not conected your fan will not speed up which sounds like the problem you are having.

it is, fan is working fine, it was the thermostat not opening fully causing the fan not to operate properly. tried 5 thermostat and we just couldnt figure it out so we just installed a gutted up thermostat. not the car runs cool but hesitates and no power in the morning.
