    Default Idleing at 4k - 4age help??

    Hey

Got a ae86, with a ae92 100kw 4age installed, just bought it about a week ago, has been running fine.

Clearned the engine bay, and cleaned up the wiring just put it in clips etc on.

came home, and i realised i let water into the spark plug area between the heads, i dried the water out then i started the car again, and it started reving at 4k, and doesn't go lower

Wondering what controls the idle on the 4age 100kw, no leaks really sounding, but can I check anything computer wise, or should I just be checking for air leaks

ADD: I have checked the obvious, of throttle being stuck, and minor vacuum leaks.

where is the tps, or is there a throttle screw

    http://www.ae92gts.com/ae92gts_tps.html

there is no adjustment screw for the idle
check out the above link for the tps info

the 4age will idle upto 2500 until operating temp anyway

we need more info as to where the water came from?
did the water come from your cooling system perhaps?
because if there is an air pocket it will idle high.
    try bleeding to cooling system

car was wet because it was quite dirty from the last owner, and I was high pressure spraying the motor down, and forgot about the middle area and water got in there.

ok try this -if you've got an air compressor with a needle blower
remove the wiring plugs and blow the water/moisture out
dont touch the injector connectors tho, they,ll leak fuel, then you,ll have to replace the seals afterwards
remove the distributor cap and check for moisture there too

if your idle was ok before the engine wash
then your problem is water in your connectors giving your ecu wrong readings
once the water dries out it will go back to normal, me thinks

4AGEs do have idle-speed adjustment - there is a screw on top of the throttle body.

And I doubt an air bubble in the coolant would cause it to idle that high, the cold idle circuit runs at ~2000rpm when cold (ie valve fully open) and then slowly closes until warm (~900rpm), controlled by a wax pellet in the bottom of the throttle body which is immersed in coolant. An air-pocket will cause the wax pellet to contract and fully open the valve, giving 2000rpm idle speed. Any increase in idle speed above that will be due to TPS or vacuum leaks post-throttle (ie MAP sensor, cam-cover breather, brake booster)

High pressure cleaner would probably exert enough force to move the TPS if you gave it enough of a squirt.

I would be rechecking the TPS is set correctly.

i can move the tps around on the screw's and it doesn't do a thing to the idle, so does that mean my tps is screwed

funny thing is after i cleaned out the engine bay, i drove the car home from my parants and, the motor did spurter a little bit due to the water, then i cleaned it and then it started reving at 4k.

It has been out in the sun for 2 days, so its not that its wet anymore

    anyone else got any ideas...

    i sorted it out,

it was the previous owner didn't plug up all the holes in the throttle body properly, and i never had a good enough light to be able to see this hole that was not pluged up.
