I strongly advise against any sort of carby turbo setup, unless you happen to have the parts lying around and can do the fabrication work yourself and don't expect big things from the result. If you want to build something decent you really need EFI, it makes everything so much easier and better!

well i was speaking to a guy that i know. (he is a mechanic) he reckons one of his mates turbo charged a 351 or 302 not sure but on the dyno it provided some really impressive results..

i dont think it should be that hard. just need to get a custom manifold made to suit the solex carbs n we can wak on a t2 or some shit..

So a friend of a friend allegedly turbocharged some large-capacity V8 and it made some impressive (but unknown) numbers on a dyno. Based on this you think it's going to be all easy?

Sure thing guy, good luck with all that!

Turbo setups can be done with a carb BUT there is no way in hell that it would out do an EFI setup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
prob not what you want to hear but it is true!
In saying that though it is def possible and you can still net some great results!
What sort of set up do you have in mind? Draw through / blow through?

You sound like a SMART guy!!! Efi can be done pretty cheap these days esp if you shop around!
It will end up cheaper in the long run going Efi but i Know this isnt always an option!
Not too mention te fact you will have far less hic-ups going efi!

The easiest and cheapest way to do this is a draw-though carb setup.
By doing this you dont have to worry about pressurised carb problems, and aftermarket ECUs for EFI.

Grab a 34ADM carb off a falcon, bolt it on the intake side of the turbo, do a little carb tuning and away you go.
Itll end up running quite rich, but you dont care about fuel economy right?

    thanks

where about could i shop around

y wouldnt it be an option and yes i know there wont be as much hic-ups but the only thing i could possibly think of is the fact of missing that sweet carbie sound.

is the efi conversion easy.(could it be done at home in my backyard??)

    that carby sound is overrated....

is the efi conversion just so you can swap on a turbo?

I would imagine that bolting on a turbo + intercooler etc would pretty much negate the existing carb induction sounds you have.
