    Default Autronic SM4, 20v dizzy

Hey guys, I am currently building a blacktop 20v. I am using an autronic sm4. The previous set up utilized s15 coils, I do not have the cdi unit to run these coils. Would I be able to run a factory 20v dizzy and ignitor from the unit I have.
From what I understand, is if I power the ignitor, i can send a signal to it and it will operate. is this correct?

Also if anyone has a diagram I could use to wire it all up, would be good

    Cheers

You can run the stock dizzy yes and use it as a CAS (crank angle sensor) of sorts, providing it generates the correct signals ie home/TDC etc etc

Sorry im not that more knowledgable in the technicalities as I had my sm4 professionally installed

I do have a cas, with an optical disk, this was used in conjunction with the nissan coils. Though I supposedly need some sort of cdi unit.

Does anyone know, how I would go about using these coils, I believe they are either s2 s14 coils, or s15.

You need to find out exactly what your SMC has in it first, if it has a dwell board then it can run those coils as they have an internal igniter, if you dont have a dwell board then you can either change to different coils/igniter or get one fitted.

If it is a Ver 1.92 then it should be able to use a missing tooth function to allow it to run the stock 20v cas provided you use a reluctor interface. The 1.92 also came with autotune from memory.

If it hasn't got the missing tooth function then you will need to modify the cas by grinding off certain teeth, it will need to see 1 pulse at TDCno1 and on the other sensor 4pulses each one 60* before TDC on each cylinder, so you would need to identify and remove the 20 unwanted teeth.

If this stuff sounds too confusing i would seriously recommend taking the car to someone who knows what they are doing as you can do alot of damage hooking things up incorrectly or modifying parts the wrong way.

    Cheers

Well I had a quick look last night, the dizzy thats in the head, only runs 4 teeth. Should of had a better look in the first place.

So basically, with it having 4 teeth, it should be able to run with the coils, regardless of what version SMC I have?
