    Default Help!!! Engine noise

Hello I have a slight sewing machine noise coming from my the head of a VVTi 1G-FE (IS200) @ low rpm especially noticed after long running periods at idle. Cambelt, Tensioner, Hydraulic Tensioner, Waterpump, Cam shaft oil seal, Crank shaft oil seal just changed so its not a timing issue. Any ideas?

It was noticeable b4 the service as well but its not as noticeable now but its still there.

For some reason I've heard some timing belts making a similar noise. I've read somewhere its something to do with air between the belt and gear teeth making this noise. Remove timing cover and have a listen to see if its coming from there.

You could also try removing your fan belt and start the car for a few seconds and see if the noise is still there or not. While the belt is off (& engine off) grab all the pulleys (alternator, power steering etc) and see if there is any play or noise when you spin them.. possibly a bearing in one of these is starting to go making this noise?? At least this may eliminate/find some things before you go further in.

Never discount something because it was recently repaired/replaced. Too many times a part has been replaced incorrectly, or the new part was defective at manufacture. Only eliminate a potenial source of trouble through proper diagnosis.

where abouts in NSW are you located? anywhere near parramatta?? to check Lexus codes you need a Toyota IT tester, it plugs in under the steering column near the hood release lever. we have one at my work.
