It appears to be a W5X perhaps a W55?

YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.
Thanks for the quick answer!
It was mounted on and 1982 RA63 that came with a 18R-G and IRS (all factory items). I don't know if this helps or not. The car was sold here in Argentina, so I guess that it could be veeeery different from what you guys are used to.
99% chance its a W55, looks identical to the one I have which also came from an 18RG powered RA63. Does your car still have the chassis plate on it? This should list your gearbox and diff as W55 F292 or similar.

Big ups River that's some priceless info.
Would anybody be able to tell me if it's an easy swap from a W40 to something 5 speed? I've got a 1976 RN25 Hilux and i'd like to keep the column shift. I'm hoping it's possible to bolt the shifter unit or extension housing from my W40 onto a W50 or P51, but don't really know what i'm talking about.
Cheers guys, awesome forum!

W40 - W50 swap is a piece of piss.

You sure it's a W40? I have an RN25 and I believe it has a L40 gearbox which are different to a W40 in that about half of what is bellhousing on the W40 is a cast part of the engine block with the L40. I don't think it's such an easy swap if yours is like this.
so what's the difference between a W50 and P51?
Very slightly different ratios. The P51 uses "bands" instead of your usual synchros, and is a patented Porsche ZF gearbox. P51 was used on their performance vehicles, such as the 2litre 18R-G powered GT/GTV Celicas and Coronas. Also used in some Crown models. P51 is stronger than W50.
