    Hi,

Yes I know. The hosting service I used has died. I'm in the process of moving the images to another service, so hang in their fellas, they'll be back soon.

All up, in my various posts, there's well over 150 images and I'm slowly going through them.

In a similar vein to this thread, just chasing some more information. Mate had a problem with his W50 in an old Holden. We sourced him one from Steve from his RA28 Celica (thanks very much matey ) and he's had to swap the shifter and everything over to get it in the same position.

He wants to try and establish what his original one came out of it (touch wood) he has any issues in the future. The only difference he could see was the marking SK-41 on his box, and S-3 on the box from Steve. He said there was 60mm difference in the shifter position but unfortunately I don't know if that's forward or back.

Does anyone know what it may have come from?

Probably just means one box came from an RA2x and the other came from an RA40. I put an RA40 box in my RA23 years ago and I recall the shifter was in a different position, but can't remember if it was fore/aft.

Are Celica T50s the same as Corolla AE71 and AE86 T50s?

If they are in which model Celica did they come in? and do they bolt into a corolla with a 4ac or 4age? I am guessing the bellousing would be different but the box should be the same.

Im sure there are other people out there thinking of the same question and I figured that this would be the best place for a response.

The TA22 and TA23 Celica came with a T50, and it's similar to the AE71/AE86 T50 but has a few key differences which means it's not a simple swap. I can't recall the details but I'm sure someone will chime in.

bellhousing, input spline's for the clutch may be different and also output shaft spline may be different. and the gearsets wont exchange between casings im pretty sure.

bumping an old thread but need to correct the above info

    • t box from A engine is 22 spline output shaft
    • t box from K or T engine is 20 spline output shaft
    • input shaft spline is the same
    • input shaft bearing on 22 spline boxes may be larger - unconfirmed by myself
    • gearsets are the same ratios and are interchangable (i built a t50 box using a combination of ae86 t50 and ta22 t50 gearset
    • bearings (except for input shaft bearing (maybe) ) are the same
    • t50 box from corolla prior to e70 and all celica has direct selectors and short shift position
    • t50 box from corolla e70 and up has remote selectors and rear shift position
    • early and late shift positions are interchangable ~ extension housings and also selectors in the side of the main casing need to be those from the box with the shift position you want.

hope this is helpful, i think the above info is misleading

Perhaps someone can answer this then: I Need help!
Im running the T50/1G combo.... Blew gearbox.
Gearbox has a code stamped on one side of the case 513 (bellend) 21237 (shifter end), Has a 21 spline input and 20 point output..... After reading rivers excellent information, every thing is pointing at K or T T50, just need a confirmation.
I have another T50, this box has the same 21 spline input but the later 22 spline output.... all the bearings are bigger, shafts not interchangeable, blokes at local parts dealership (best on the coast) couldn't get a yoke for it, its like everything is 2mm bigger.... Have been told it could be from a T-18...... Dunno if its any help.
