the answer is no as the 4age 16 valve sumps are slightly different to the 20valve supms as they have the cut in on the side.
Are there any rwd 4a motors out there from factory that would bolt up to a 20v with the sump bowl at the rear of the engine and the pickup pipe picking up from the standard 20v front inlet to reach to the rear of the sump?
looking at options before I chop up my 20v sump
Cheers

In addition to that, all 4As I have seen, both FWD and RWD, have been front sump.
Conceivably there may be a rear sump in something funny like an early Tercel, but I would be surprised.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
Hey guys,
Thankyou for the replies. It seems in my reseach that you are correct in saying that the regular 16v sumps have no cut in like the 20v. my 20v is going into a suzuki sierra and considering a lot of load is put on the motor when driving up steep obstacles I felt a rear sump collector would make life easier on the motor and it also works into my front diff placement which happens to compress up towards the forward part of the block.
Unless you have a huge lift kit on the Zook then a rear bowl sump will hit the front diff. The front bowl sump clears better and I have never ever had any oil starvation problems with steep inclines in mine.
plus they have the baffling in them anyways so even on a steep incline there will still be oil availble to the oil pickup
Hey Bazooka, my diff is around 1.5 inches forward with a RUF running 34" swampers 2" springs, 2" shackles, 2" body lift and all the measurements i've done and test fits with the sump on the normal way have seen my diff compress into the front section of the block. wanting to keep the engine as low as possible flipping it gives me that little bit extra room. My engine is a fair way forward as well as I haven't touched the dizzy at the back of the head either. I have about an inch of clearance from the firewall to dizzy on my last measurements. Body is off at the moment and the sump has already been chopped so I'm hoping that when it all goes back together i've done my measurements right. Do you have any pics of your engine in your zook? is yours a 20 or 16v?Originally Posted by Bazooka
