Thanks AlfaGTV. Welcome to toymods![]()
Just wanted to say well done guys! Your cars looked fantastic at the 6 Hour. I recently did the marathon of reading this thread and enjoyed every second of it!! You guys clearly have a great attitude and you all obviously enjoy your motorsport!
Although, when we had our shirts done for the '06 event we had the date put on our shirts too....and regretted putting the date on it the next year.....and the next year....and the next year (you get the drift!)
Maybe i'll try and devise some kind of velcro patch for the date. Then all we have to do is print a tiny patch each year.
Oh, and thanks for the nice comments AlfaGTV![]()

nostalgia is not what it used to be:
im not sure of the numbers, but skylines australia is pretty damn big too! not that im trying to rain on your parade...
are you going to the sprite club meeting friday night Ian? i was going to, but i just found out its commitee elections (which im not a part of...) and the guest speaker is just someone talking about their vinyard, boring...
hi matt
vinyards are never boring
it is nice to know the type of vine that you have just thrown up on
i was going to go, just to give a report on the six hour , as it doesnt get any recognition from the sprite club ,

shamo called around tonight and we discussed next years 6 hr
we can easily fill 3 teams
possibly a full team of 28's
we need to get organized early ,
put your names down , plus i think that we should be able to get some sponsors if we pull our finger out
nostalgia is not what it used to be:
I was thinking the same thing. We will have too many Celicas for a single team. Some people will need to be left out unless we form another team.
Sponsorship is definitely a possibility but who do we approach? and what services do we want?

hi simon
we thought that we may aproach our respective toyota dealer s for a small sponsorship , say $200 each dealer , what i mean is that cannon toyota ,not far from my place , may sponsor me for $200
shamo could aproach one in his area
likewise with eddie and so on , also they could help out with flags etc , all of which will be returned
this idea is based on you and eddies hard work on our presentation , we now have the runs on the board
i am waiting for a reply from unique car magazine that may be interested on doing a story on our achievments ,
hows eddies video going ?

Yeah, i was thinking that since we have some nice pictures of the cars and a trophy, we now look like a team that's worth sponsoring. Having said that though, we need to be able to offer people something in return for their sponsorship though. I'm not sure that Toyota would be bothered with it. They're not likely to sell any cars by sponsoring a bunch of 40 year old Celicas.
I was thinking about people like Bursons or Repco. They are more likely to get us, and our friends, buying more stuff from them as a result of sponsoring us. They may even be able to supply things like oil/filters/brake pads/parts instead of cash.
Other more specialised companies like Scotts Old Auto Rubber would get something out of it since most of the cars competing at Winton are not new models.
We need to put a little sponsorship package together for when we approach people. It also needs to be done in a logical way so that we don't end up have competing companies saying "ok" and then get ourselves in trouble.

tthat sounds like a good plan slim
with the toyota proposal ,i was thinking more of the spare parts side maybe even a couple of toyota wreckers ,the scotts one sounded good
the other thing that we discussed last night was aquiring or building a club trailer , that would be able to be loaned out for a small donation
nostalgia is not what it used to be:
its toyota's 50th anniversary of building cars in australia this year or next year, might be able to run off that some how.
as for having too many cars etc, do we really? we had to cast the net far and wide to manage to fill the slots in rising sun. this event always has lots of talk about people competing but when it comes to putting money where mouth is, its a bit different.. cars arent ready... people arent ready etc...
would be cool if we did have three teams though!
hopefully the charade is ready for a run by then![]()
Personally i think keeping it to two teams would be ideal. It was hard enough organising a group as large as we did. Also it means spilling into a second pit garage and sharing it with a group we don't know.

True - and a third team would mean an extra garage shared with someone else... scary
So maybe we aim for two teams or four teams![]()
I think 3 is pushing the limits at this stage. I know bigger is better, but until we get bored of looking after 12 cars, I think it will be more enjoyable to keep it simple.
I won't be too pissed off if i have to miss out to let someone else run, I'd still come up to help.
