Questions about 3sgte st185

Hi..

I need help here. I have read an article.

It says that the 3sgte st185 (gen III) the block is not strong enough compared to the 5sfe.

By changing with the 5sfe block, it helps to increase the power by 200cc. Is this true ??

Kindly give me an answer, I'm very curious about this. Thanks.

Errrrr.....well the ST185 3SGTE is a Gen 2 engine....the ST205 is the Gen 3.

The block on both engines are pretty tough, what your referring to is putting the 5SFE block to a 3SGTE head which will stroke it to 2.2 ltrs, giving it alot more torque and a little more power.

strong enough for what....? how much HP you looking at...?

they're fine for over 300rwkw, some have got 500hp

the s5s crank can be fitted to the 3s block for extra stroke and you get a lil under 200cc of extra capacity, will help a lil with low/mid tourque and getting turbo on boost. but the extra cost of fitting and machining is not nessassrily worth the gains.

also not sure if the 5s block has oil squirters nor all the ports for oil feed etc for turbo.
