Same, same, $20 per injector trade, includes, clean, service ( replace all seals and filters) and flow test results before and after service.

Sorry to revive a thread like this, but i didnt want to make a new one just for it....

I am wondering, par going all the way and getting the injectors professionally cleaned, what I can do to clean them up a bit. What brands of Injector cleaner are trustworthy and have yielded good results? Or is it simply not worth using them? I have tried the bottle solution once before, and didnt notice anything...are they effective?

    Thanks!
    Kind Regards,
    Kurt.

Nulon is good stuff... when the car is fairly new 30,000 kms or so it still works..

however i'm against the bottle injector cleaners u dump in the fuel tank coz

    1. the fuel tank has got sludge in it from storing the crappy petrol we get
    2. there's sludge on the walls of the fuel tank
    3. the injector cleaner will scrape the sludge off the walls and block filter's fuel lines and ultimately the injectors.

by sludge i mean watever crap that sticks on the walls of the tank.

that's why experience,. an older car and the injector cleaner. with a new car i use it one a month but also make sure i put in petrol from a newer fuel station or one which has new tanks in.

the best product i've used so far is Nulon's throttle body and injector cleaner. Spray it into the throttle body, leave for a min, start up (usually takes a bitch to start up), and when while running, squirt it in pulses while fast idling and stuff. U'll see the carbon come out of the exhaust almost immediately. On really screwed up cars it'll do shit for the cat converter though... otherwise it's pretty effective..

but i still feel that taking out injectors and cleaning the by machine is the best solution, that and cleaning the throttle body if you can.. (tends to have soot and bits of oil in them)

spray it directly into your throttle body, so take off the air induction hose, there u'll see the throttle..

when the car is off, open up the throttle and spray inside. dodgily put the hose back on (for temporary sake) and after a minute or so, start her up.. it'll take a fair bit coz it's pushing out the crap, it has more cleaning solution than petrol in it. Spraying too much is okay but just takes harder to start. A few people have got Aerostart on hand just in case the battery is weak or so...

then when it's started, open up the hose again, and spray some more in squirts.. at fast idle.. coz when u spray it in, the revs will drop.. so squirting it at intervals will make ur car rev down, then come back up... black smoke is normal though so don't worry..

all the instrucitons are on the spray can itself ..

As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are

Well just to add something here you can buy cheap ultrasonic cleaners from ebay. Not sure how well they would do the job but would come in handy for cleaning other things besides your injectors.
Just cant remember the fluid we used in the baths for cleaning the injectors

I've got one, it didn't seem to work that well for injectors. (They were old nasty injectors though)

I have never given much credit to the injector cleaner you put in the tank, esp when the results from a proper clean can tell you if they are working properly or not. If the injectors are bad the difference can be substantial.

A friend who is a mechanic said they used to somehow suck up the 100% concentrated nulon into the fuel rail and stop the engine when they thought it was at the injectors to let it sit for a few minutes. It sounded a bit hit a miss with the speed the fuel is returned to the tank, so never tried it.

I mentioned it to another mechanic friend at a Mitz dealership. He said the genuine Mitz cleaner (for fuel tank) would actually damage the injectors if used at full concentration due to its potency. I did not want to test this theory.
