    Default 7mgte head torque

hi guys, putting my 7m back together in the next day or so, just wondering what increments you torque to when torquing up to 80ft/lb ( as in what did you go to in the first couple of passes of the studs?)

i have arp head studs and genuine gasket

any help would be great thanks

    paul

I started mine with hand tight then 15 i think and then incremented it by
    10.

Are you using new bolts or the old ones? If new bolts what are they?

Edit: tell us more about your build. I'm a 7m freak.

    cool thanks for that

got head done, just i lick, valve clearances and valve stem seals, all new bearings and rings, all std size, as was all well with in tolerance still, got crank linished, ARP head studs and all gaskets are genuine toyota

nothing too spectacular, rebuilt stock ct26, probably only run about 10psi, but it is only going to go into my bundera, so i think its going to scare some people, me included

    is 80ft/lb the go?

Tighten to manufacturer's specifications as overtightening can cause the material to yield and undergo plastic deformation

Toyota's specs are 72 ft/lbs... I'm not sure what the ARP specifics are

    Have you chased the threads?????

Use the ARP moly lube and torque to ARP specs as per the TSRM:

    http://cygnusx1.net/supra/TechTips/head_retorque.aspx

Most people suggest 3 or so passes when torqueing it down:

ARP specify 80 footpounds in their instructions.

3-4 passes, going up an even amount each time.
