use a rattle gun
I'm need to replace the pulley on my 2TG alternator, but the damn nut won't budge. Anyone have some helpful suggestions as to how I can remove it. It's been soaked in WD40 and I'm currently bending the fins trying to stop alt from spinning.
Thanks

Either use a rattle gun or undo the through bolts, split the front and rear housings apart and lock the rotor in a vise and undo the nut. Rattle gun will be easiest though.

stupid question .
But is it a right hand thread. as in turn it right to loosen it
If not re-install it in the engine with belts all nice and tight. then try andc loosen it
Combine the engine and belts will clamp dowm on the pulley more.
If not buy one of these. its a impact driver. If in Doubt give it a Clout

Well after much straining and WD40, I manage to use a pair of pliers to brace the fins and a really long extension bar. The nut is finally been removed. I then put the new pulley onto the bolt, it doesn't fit. Why is the world so unkind?
Thanks for all the suggestions. Maybe a rattle gun is my next investment.
