XR6 Falcon Turbo on 2J

my turbos on my 2J are poo pooed...I need to rip them off and replace them with something asap

can get my hands on an XR6T turbo in good nick for about $800

Egay manny and gate will go with it...

not the original plan but ive run out of car funds cash as I was hoping the stockers would last me at least 3 months and give me some time to build up some more for a T78...cant bear to see the shitbox sit in a shed for another 3 months...

thoughts? ideas? opinions?

XR6 turbo is just a GT35R with a .86 housing (not 100% on the housing), so yeah, it's a good turbo for the 2gay... in fact, some people would say no need for the T78

1.06 rear...., weld up the internal gate. The actuator is only good (stock) for like 10psi.

From what I remember reading, the stock XR6T turbo is a Garrett GT40. read up on the turbo's specs on the Garrett website and see if it's suitable??

Pretty certain there are a heap of XR6 turbos running standard turbo's on at least 1BAR, but as you say maybe they weld up the internal gate and go with an external gate

They change the acuator to one rated at 10-12psi . Some also port out the rear of the internal gate & fit a larger flapper valve thingy as once you add a free flowing exhaust that spike pretty bad.

Stock one won't hold boost very well at anything above 10psi.

the internal gate would get welded and an external would be fitted

mates making near 450rwkw on his XR6 turbo with one of these, had to get some shit done to the rear housing in order to make it while controlling boost properly.

they are good shit, just wee bit laggy on the 3000cc.
