Looking at the adjustment used on the pump, I don't think a much shorter belt would actually fit.
Would a shorter belt help?

yeah I went a got a belt this morning and it just fits on, It only fits if I put it on the crank and then got it over the pwr steer pulley. im starting not being able to move the pump towards the engine
what sort of clearace do you think I would be after peewee
engineering is fine car is already done. Plus whats a little rust repair

I'd give it 10mm

Stitty thats looks like the largest of the 7M P/S pump pulleys, the small one is 20 mm smaller than yr one .
Dave
do you know what it is off dave??
I didn't think this pump was 7M as it looked a lot different to the other 7M pump I had??
could it be 6M maybe??

I'd also be aiming for 10mm min. What about;
- Spacing the engine mount another 5mm?
- Running shorter belt - but get it on by unbolting the pump?
- Notch x member/chassis
- Dent x member/chassis
Smaller pulley is no doubt the best option if available.

Id say MZ21 sailplane as most of the motors i had were MZ,s. I,ll have a check see if i have one but dont think so as i binned all the odd 7M bits to make the shed a house items storage shed .
Dave
Not sure if the NCOP applies to where you are but they specify 10mm minimum at all times, attached.
PS. That PS pump looks like the one on my 7mgte also.

Possibly a dumb question, but might apply here...arent there electrically driven hydaulic pumps for these now>?...im sure its hideously expensive and a pain in the arse, but im fairly certain its out there...
not specifically relevant because its 'all electric' but this confirms that the pump element exists.
Anyone?
Rotaries are cool...so why are their owners such cocks>>?
yeah MR2 and something else run them. I was thinking of doing just that but it seemed a mission.
Just to find a SW20 pump was proving hard
also found out a MZ20 pulley is 10mm smaller so 5mm more clearance, maybe with a smaller belt, will look at that and maybe just repair some rust in the chassis just below the pwr steer pump

bit late but... mounts don7t compress much. when they are angled like that, they kidn of bend in shear... like a blob of jelly wobbling.. cos the engine weight compresses them heapd anyway.
both sides have th emovement limiting metal bit?
you could "adjust" the drivers side one, or add another to limit the absolute movement possible.. might make a bit of noise on WOT, but less noise than a pulley![]()

washers to sit on the right hand side maybe, for clearance??? not sure how everything else will like that constant 'twist' to it.
