Default 1j and 2j engine mount differences

just wanting to confirm the results of my searching, 1jz engine mounts are the same as the earlier 2jz engine mounts (non vvti) i want to use some mounts originaly desigened to put a 2j into a s13 to mount a 1j in an s13.

    cheers,
    craig.

The alloy sections that bolt onto the block are different accross vechicles, but any mount that bolts on to a 1jz will interchange with a 2jz and vice versa.

Aristo alloy blocks are 'wider' then soarer ones, I'm not sure on chaser or supra ones though.

Any ideas on the similarity between Chaser and Supra ones. Specifically JZX81 and JZA80 ones....

I don't have any of my images here... I haven't had anything to do with chaser nor JZ80 ones. I think I've got a set of soarer and aristo ones at home still.

I remember I made my mounts to suit the soarer ones, before I had an Aristo engine and I needed an 8mm spacer plate from the block, but if I had have used the Aristo ones I wouldn't have needed this, but I can't confirm 100% if the spacing is just outwards or it moves foward backward up or down also...

I think the 2JZ Supra flexible mounts have twin studs on the bottom rather then one also.

Yeah, i would be using the alloy engine part, along with a Noltec rubber/nolthane mount.

Yeh the jzx81 alloy mounts are different too the jza80/jza70/jzs147. I'v used jzx90 engine brackets before too put my 1jz in the cressida. The 2jzgte has jzx81 brackets.

What do you mean? You said jzx81 is different to jza80 and jzs147 but it uses the same bracket as a 2jz?

Sorry for the confusion. I used jzx81 alloy brackets on my 2jzgte. The original jzs147 alloy brackets didn't align up with the mx83 crossmember.

from a quick visual inspection, JZA80 mounts would have the engine sitting a lot further forward in comparison to JZX81 mounts on the same crossmember (IF the width between the engine bracket insulator holes is the same between the JZA80 and JZX81.).

On the JZA80 the hot side bracket mounts in the rearmost set of mount holes on the block, the cold side mount is actually angled back to the rear of the motor.

On a JZX81 the hot side mount goes in the forward set of holes, the cold side mount is made so the insulator hole is actually more towards the front of the engine.

Interesting, i know the aristo conversions are able to swap the mounts around L to R in order to shift the engine back a fair bit. Ill have a go with that i guess.

I wasn't aware you could do that with the aristo mounts, they look to be centered fairly well. I know guys reverse JZX90 mounts to get the engine further back in the X83 bay.

Im pretty sure its Aristo mounts which are reversable. Maybe it is the JZX90 mounts.

Any chance of getting a pic of an engine with some measurements so i can see where i have to put the mounts to?

I'm picking up another JZX81 frontcut this afternoon and stripping it down this weekend, I'll take some pics and measurements for you.
