    Default 3T GTE Fidanza flywheel?

    Hi all,
Anyone fitted a Fidanza flywheel to their 3T GTE? I think they weigh only around 5kg?
Wondering what people think of them, are they a direct fit and will the stock clutch bolt straight up?

    Cheers,
    Simon

id recommend a aftermarket one over a heavily lightened stock unit
as you seem to be doing and a chromoly one over an aluminium one,
apparently aluminium does like heat cycles or stress much from what i have
heard and the steel insert expands at a different rate to the aluminium flywheel
    its bolted to causing problems?

i know for 2tg you can get a cusco and a toda chromoly one, both about
$700 new shipped over. 200mm face.

also 3rd gen g series interchanges? ask sillycar chick, she bought a custom
g series one for her 3tgteu for around $400 locally, but dont think it fits into the
t50 though because it uses the bigger 3rd gen 1g clutch kit. you would have to
use a w series box to fit the 3rd gen 1g clutch kit.

2tg/3tc ones only have 200mm surface and 3tgteu is 225mm? not sure on g motors...
    anyway, hope that helps!

I used this exact flywheel with absolutely no problems for about four maybe five years and that is with a full metal clutch mostly at the drag strip and daily use. I didn't like it for drag racing I like more inertia to help off the line so now I am running a factory flywheel, but for street, road race it was awesome.

chromoly.. you have limited resurfacing capability.
alloy, you can replace the insert.

i think if you are heating it up enough to cause so much expansion of the cast iron insert, and the alloy can't conduct it away fast enough..... you're DOING IT WRONG
chromoly has less MASS/heat capacity near the friction area, as well as slower conduction (i think?) = blued/overheated flywheel....
with the alloy, they can have/need a thicker friction surface - more heat capacity - lower temp rise.
    etc.
can't vouch for the fidanza, but chromoly are kind of throwaway after they get burnt (but i might be wrong on that.. is just my opinion)

OK, thanks guys. Will start another rebuild on my 3T GTE sometime soon and will finally get around to updating my site with its progress.

    Cheers,
