    i didnt even thing of that when we were talking on msn, from what you described it sounded like timing or bad leads as we were talking about :S lol

    and "chemi-weld"? she will be good for a few months, so use that time to sorce/rebuild another engine cause that one would be officially usless

    1) I wouldn't touch chemi-weld after seeing the crap it leaves everywhere. If it is a BHG you'll need to fix it properly, or do an engine swap.

    2) A typical BHG on a 7M is from the cylinder into the coolant passage, so you may not see oil/coolant mixing, but you may see:
    * Exhaust gas in the coolant.
    * Over pressurised cooling system.
    * Coolant pumped out the overflow bottle.
    * Steam in the exhaust.

    3) 7M heads from cressidas are fine, and readily available at wreckers for <= $200 if it turns out you need one. Cometic metal head gaskets for the 7M are a few hundred $, but can't remember exactly. While you're there you should add ARP head studs or bolts to increase head gasket torque, another hundred or so. Then you'll want the block and head machined to be dead flat, otherwise the MHG won't work. I would budget $3k if you just pay for parts and machining but do the rest yourself.

    sarcasm fails on the internet. dont use chemi weld ever.

    7m bhg fix is well documented on the forums, hell I even have my own thread doing said job in my sig.

    90% of 7M's ive seen run like poo cause of either BHG or timing issues, or both.

    the motors that are brought over are rockets cause the japs seem to run more timing, and get em huffing and puffing a bit better.

    chuck our fuel in it and they all seem to blow up after a while.

    if you plan to keep the car, dont fuck around.

    pull the motor (less than a days work if its your first time)

    pull everything apart till its just block and head (can take from a few hours to 2 or so days, some of the bolts are rusty etc.)

    and take the entire thing into a DECENT JAP mechanic, look around forums that are around your area to see who does stuff like this.

    tell them to pull it apart, check the head, get the head and block decked and cleaned, and metal headgasket and studs.

    had i done this first off i wouldve saved myself stupid amounts of money, and wouldve had a more reliable, more powerful car.

    most 7M's are shit cause the owners are cheapskates and skimp on a few thousand to have an immac motor.

    Might also be worth thinking about a JZ engine if you're going to do that much work...

    Cheers

    got it all fixed.. was a coil pack and a few dodgy spark plugs. was only running on 5 cylinders. fixed now and running really well. probably gonna get my whole radiator cleaned and fresh coolant as it still runs around the 4th-middle bar on the gauge.

    thats good news. all three of my soarers always sat at 4 or 5 bars depending on outside temp. If you are using water id still be wary of a gasket however.
