Perhaps we should fix the very loose definition of what is considered as 'Original' .

Not talking about the difference between Chrome & painted bumpers *looks at River*. But anything that has had say an engine conversion/substantial modifications to suspension wheels, brakes etc is clearly not original.
    If in doubt power out

Classes could be clearly defined in writing prior to the event to clear up issues like that - pretty simple.

Lol... I have to agree that the awards for the Show and Shine were a bit of a rort this year...

Definitely need the categories to be more clearly defined and do something about the judging... Maybe some people that are a bit more impartial?

Couldn't care less about mine. I came for the boozey weekend & laughs & definately got that. More annoyed that one of the little rollas didn't get best original. No offence but a RA23 or whatever Danae's car is with a 1ggeu in it isn't original.

The guys with the rollas were really only there for the show & shine & if you want them to come back in the future to display the car it'd be polite to award them for the effort rather then giving it to a car that took out multiple other classes & doesn't actually fit the bill for the class.

Stitt's car isn't as bad its factory suspension with a height controller & some wheels.

Not all work is noticeable to the judges and judging a mates car your going to know more about it and hence (un)knowingly award more points. It's an unavoidable flaw at small events like Toyota Nationals.
This sounds more in keeping with the ethos of the event, it would need some thought on categories but provides a good basis i reckon. If all entrants had a 'tick a box' form for 1, 2, 3 in each category and had to submit this form to qualify themselves, then judging is done? Takes the pressure off a few individuals and engages everyone a bit more in the event. Lets not kid ourselves...judges in this case are no more or less qualified than others who have brought a car.

when people enter, they are asked for a list of modifications.

if this is inaccurate, then it is hard to put into correct category.

I should point out that i had nothing to do with organising this event - i just helped with all the paperwork out there.... hence having an understanding of how it went thing down...

I think original can have minimal period modifications... wheels etc...
Street - more modifications allowed, including engines that were in the same chassis ie 1j into ma70. then modified - everything else engine conversions, brakes, cages etc etc

Was a car this year in the wrong category this year?

I think if people are interested in the show side of things... they should be with their car to show the judges what has been done... ie. in some cases and interior may look totally stock - but the owner may have gone to massive lengths hiding computers, suspension controllers etc etc to keep it that way - which a judge would not know....

show judging is always going to be subjective - asking entrants to do it would be almost impossible - we had to walk around and harass everyone just for the entrants choice.... let alone if they were doing it all.

I dont think that trophys are that important to most - but if they are there, you want themm to go to the deserving winner.

as for the driving - get rid of the handicapping i say....
no modifying for drags or class in khana.... if you have bought/built the right car you should come first - reguardless of engine size or wheels driven.
have classes for sure - but overall is just that....

I'd agree on ditching the handicapping.

ditto, now where's my extra trophy
Mind you, when you work out using the best of each run not accumulated, teh fully hektik dorifto Sprinter beat me by at least 6 or 7 s, which in my opinion, would've been a better result, as it was a better show.

    Woo!

I wish they'd said which CARS were the winners when they read out the names, they did for a couple but for most I was like *nudge nudge* "what were they in..??" and Jase would be like "Fucks me but its no magna" then he'd make supercharger whining noises with his mouth.

Wonder where that one that got sold on the forum here a couple of years ago went...
