concurrent khana and drags would be a logistical nightmare. The lexus simply isnt safe (or fun) drag racing on street tyres, and so Id spend all day changing rims.

In the spirit of the event I would never want to have to chose, gotta go 110% in everything!

However I think we'll move the spectators back an extra metre or two from the 'narrow' lane in some places, as there was one 'hairy' (read heart in mouth) moment for the officials watching the Ute spinning very close to the spectators on a Double Hat run.
Yea I was standing there, even if he'd hit the barrier, the tray would have well....

Anyways it wound up being all good, but quite a few scared people(inc. me). Definately a 1-2m extension of the spector area for sure.

As to the Khana location, Rona I don't think it's going to change(I mean I don't know...but), this years location was really good, nice surface, large area, spectator parking and amenities.

Even if there were drags(and they are a maybe) there is nowhere at the airstrip to even run the Khana.

I agree, the logitics of Khana and drags would be pretty full on, perhaps more than some people would want to subject their cars too, and there is only so many hours in the day. Not sure how that will pan out, I'll leave it to the eternal experience of the event organisers

if you could run the khana on sat arvo, the scrutineering could be done during the show...

would be a good thing for the sat arvo..... im keen.

I do think it would be a bit of a nightmare runnin both events on the same day....

As well as possible implication from ANDRA and CAMS events at the same location at the same time???? im unsure on this but they are pretty funny about their regulations...

I didn't see how much lighting there was at the cattleyard, but I did see the posts, so it should be ok.
Scrutineering by the khana officials at the show n shine too? Would save time for later on.
Also,as Stitt said, the time at the show n shine could give time for the khana course to be set up.

I think though that the Khana took most of the day, so maybe the show n shine may need to be earlier on Sat morn (like we had a big crowd there this year )

If we could get both the motorkhana and the drags, I think there'd be a lot bigger turnout.

Also, as Shane pointed out, an overall trophy for all events would be good (& maybe an extra one for motorsport king to convince those that may not have show-worthy cars to still come), as most of us in the Khana would still drag race (as opposed to those who may not be coming because there's no drag racing)

Penalty for those that wus out of the motorkhana?

well there already is a trophy for overall for all events....

    that is "TOP TOYOTA"

That went to Matt Bently this year. he had the highest overall score in the car show....
had some good times in the Khana - (didnt place overall) but was definately spectacular and had its ring driven off by 2 drivers all day.

also as we only had one event there was an overall drivers trophy - "outright motokhana winner"

But yeah i agree with an overall for the driving if there is more than one driving event...

It is hard to pick an overall one, unless there is a clear standout.....

i spose you could award 40 points to the top car in each event and score them down 1 point per postion... then add those together...

But if you had of done this.... bronnies is200 would most likely have won top toyota.... as much as i like the car (lol) i do not believe it was the top toyota there....

How do you take crowd appeal etc into it???

All ideas i reckon bonc em round here.... see what we can come up with....

    Cheers

For an outright driving award one way would be to total the time for the khana and then add the top however many drag runs ( X mutliplier ) to bring the time differences in the drags up. Class handicaps etc could be calculated if necessary.

Crowd favourite at the drags/khana could be simply judged by the crowd filling out a little note and dropping it in a box. Of course then pen and paper and encouragement to fill out said voting would need to be done - probably not worth the effort for an essentially meaningless prize of popularity?

The emphasis on awards amazes me a little as it's not really what the weekend is all about? Is it?

As for the show judging perhaps a move to entrant and spectator judging/voting would be an option? Like the entrant choice award but on a larger scale. Especially considering the current system is based upon points, points can only be awarded by judges based on what they see / know (and no one can see or know everything about all the cars and models, not even Rona). Not all work is noticeable to the judges and judging a mates car your going to know more about it and hence (un)knowingly award more points. It's an unavoidable flaw at small events like Toyota Nationals.

Personally I couldn't care less about the prizes for the show side of it and am only interested in having a squizz at the cars themselves in the show. I know others are more passionate about showing though so it's probably best they provide input rather than me who doesn't give a shit about posing .

    Cheers

    Shane.
