total of around 2500 cars all up
    about 15? celicas

was a great day, it was good that the club car made it there before breaking down. Otherwise, it was my first time out and i couldn't believe how many cars there were.

I was up since 5 so it has been a long day but was well worth it. Great to catch up with everyone, and meet some new faces. Pictures wise, i didn't take that many at the meet as i did on the way there I'll upload what i have in the next day or two.

Hi guys what a great day. Sarah and i had a great time and enjoyed meeting you guys for the first time. Love seeing all those Celicas in one place it spurs me on to do bigger and better things to the car. On a somber note watching the bush fire report devastation everywhere. I think we need to hold a run in the next couple of weeks and ask members to dig deep with donations of money or goods and take them in to one of the CFA centers every bit helps. What do you guys think?.
    Paul.

thats a great idea paul we need to do something the news is just getting worse if thats possible, thats the reason i had to leave early today my twin daughters were stranded in gippsland because of blocked roads and there anxiety was affecting me and my wife we had to get home. after many detours they finally got home safe. under the circumstances we had great time, and CRAZY I forgot to pay for cccv decal. IAN i am sorry but forgot about the club car, hope you got it on trailor and home without to much trouble.

Glad to hear that your daughters are safe Pac. I suggest you bring them with you next time so you/we can keep an eye on them.
Just to errr, make sure they're safe and stuff.

As for Paul's idea... I'd like to help the fire victims out in some way. I haven't decided how i yet. I was considering a donation to one of the Bushfire Appeals or something... I'm not sure what the most appropriate/helpful thing for me to do is.

it certainly was a great day , i think that the edge was taken away with the tragic news that kept coming in
even riding a bike around i didnt get to see it all , our club put on a pretty good display
i think that we were the largest single make club grouped together . there was a very nice blue 22 parked down from us with gold simmons , i couldnt find the owner , does anyone know the car and owner

the bush fire tragedy is a bit close to home for us , they are calling for volunteers ,i have postponed work for a couple of days to try and help where i can

Does anyone know whether a cruisey cruise, or a night at the drags with donation stops along the way would raise any money? Maybe Ian could invite his mate Fletch along for publicity, come to think of it, Ian could also invite his mates from Australian classis car, or unique cars, or...... Who woulda thought such a cranky old bugger could have so many Mates!!!

The day at hanging rock was fantastic! It's a shame about the club car (i'm sure it is cursed), but I think it worked out well in the end with the pit crew swapping tyres and loading it onto the trailer.

Given the amount of people who weren't able to make it, there was still quite a celica turnout. When we get a whole turnout, there is going to be a LOT of cars!!!

I was stoked with how my car went on it's first long run - did not miss a beat the whole way. It was so trustworthy and fun that I decided to start driving it to work again. I do miss the aircon, the radio, the heater, and the cruise control... but apart from that it's great!

Thanks again to all those who made an effort to organise the club on the day, and well done to all those that could make it!

    Cheers,
    Timbo

    hi timbo
it was great to see you and all your women, lol
we might put our heads together and see if we can come up with some ideas
maybe something like selling of surplus car parts at a swap meet and donating the money
i am sure that we can do something

What i was thinking, but didn't properly express when i posted last night, was that we need to do the most we can to help. So it seems a bit weird for us to do a cruise as a group when we could each donate the $30 or so that we would spend on petrol and food for the day.

    That is true.

I guess I was thinking that most people would be happy to donate (eg $30 on top of the petrol costs, but you'd get more people participating if it was an event.

I don't if it's possible, but is there a way we could raise money along the way also? (without resorting to standing on the street begging?)

I like your spare parts idea Ian, but I don't know if we'd have much of a market for old celica bits - like timing chain covers... oh, wait a minute...

Maybe some people have contacts to get cheap parts (like, i dunno, boost controllers, gauges, or engine oil, or tyre vouchers etc) which we could raffle at the end of the meet?

A lot of effort would be involved, and I don't have any experience in this sorta stuff.

Maybe we could auction off Slim's Cressie... I hear he might not be needing it?

Tim, i've got a couple of punches that i could donate to your face... but it won't help the fire victims at all so i'll hold myself back.
