Received a little more info from the main contact for the event. They will be trying to keep the show true to it's origins and will be re-directing vehicles (presumably to the public parking area) if they don't meet the criteria.

Reckon the celicas and Levin will meet the conditions, or are they only going to let in mustangs, camaros and old falcons?

thats the importance of getting there early

Well l hope the weather cools down before the 8th otherwise get there early so you can watch all the hot rods make cups of tea going in (them boiling there brains out).

Take plenty of sun block with you too if its hot and sunny you will get burnt to the shithouse.

We might need to take some of those portable sunshade things with us. I have one, but it's being used to shade my mini and is semi-permanently set up at my house. http://photos-b.ll.facebook.com/phot...74769_8902.jpg

Dont want to put the mozz on things but if the weather keeps going the way it has been, the CFA may put a stop to this event due to the fire risk. Couldn't really blame them either ! Lets hope not.

i just moved into a new house with no carport/garage so bought one of these:

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3x6m-carport-...1%7C240%3A1318

it is fairly permanently setup tho and i spent a good few hours putting it up and tying/bolting it down.
was damn good to put the bbq, stereo, lights, esky and outdoor table in on new years too

i may have a smaller gazebo type thing although it is not big enough for a car. will have to see if i still have it.

I'd tend to agree... If you have thousands of cars there, the risk of one of them, or a person, starting a grass fire would be quite considerable and then people would have little chance of escaping.

Talking Re: picnic at hanging rock 8th feb 2009

i have a portable gazebo thingy
it will keep about 10 people from being fried
although the forecast for hanging rock looks ok
    32 +
i must advise that all women must wear light see through clothing
as to minimize the risk of heat exposure , which will be personally inspected by me , as i have the OH +S certificate for minimal clothing and sun block application
i cant vouch for crazy's indecent exposure though

Ian, be nice. We don't want to scare any nice young ladies off from hanging out with the celica guys.
