dont do it. wont have enough output to run all electrics...
ive done some searching and have read a few peoples versions, but im on dialup, and general keyword searches have filled the past 2 nights of my time after work! Seriously!
can anyne tell me HOW to take the 4AC alternator i hold in my left hand and make it work with the RWD smallport im leaning against with my right hand?
and IF i should? ? id like to hear in detail from some of those people that HAVE quoted it "do-able"
And for those of you in opposition - can you please state why not, so i can learn from my pre-mistakes
thanks guys

Don't waste your time... Use the 4AG alternator, already fits, and easier wire up, not to mention that it's vaguely able to charge the battery...
ok thanks for the fast replies.Originally Posted by mrshin
after talking to someone, they swore by the fact that its a simple conversion, and i just get the V belt waterpump and crank pulleys from the 4ac and put them on the 4age,
BUT....for piece of mind i would rather be using a 4age alternator, im just trying to get out of it as cheap as possible as i have a few 4ac waterpumps and alternators laying around..
now i jsut gotta find one ASAP... any words up?
thanks

yeah dont do it
i bought a 4age sprinter which had a 4ac alternator
nothing but problems
harmonic balancer chewed itself out as well as issues with pulleys not lining up and lack of output from alternator
if the loom you have has the round plug on it ie, same as aw11 i can get you a high output 130 amp alternator for round 250 if your interested, if it is a different plug sorry i cant supply as yet
