Yeah thanks but i think the weight of a RA28 and a RA23 are different!
Hi,
RA23 is lighter... IIRC it's about 950kg.

Hi,
fairly sure that the ra23 is over the tonn mark as a turbo 1jz is legal in qld. Current rules are 2.5 cc forced induction per kg, so for 1jz turbo to be legal it must be over the 1000kg mark. From memory the ta22 is about the 960 mark and the 23 is heavier.

Had a bit of a look around the net. Seems that the RA28 tips the scales at 1166kg (kerb weight) The RA23 comes in at 1071kg (see http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au...ifications.htm). The extra weight of the RA28 is put down to the extra metal in the back and the weight of the hatch and the glass. The TA22s seem to vary a bit as the model developed, with the very early coupe tipping the scales at 890 kg and then gaining about 90kg.
Cheers Craig
Hi,
I find that info a tad suspicious.
The RA25GT (the heaviest model in the RA25 range) tipped the scales at 1040kg.
The RA28LT (Aussie spec) is 1050kg.
I thought all coupes were under the 1000kg weight.
I have the weights for the 73-75 TA/RA models... but it does not include the RA23/28.
The GTV models were the heaviest... but only by about 5kg over the GT.

Honestly I really don't know. Here's another different weight (for the RA23) of 1065kg but it is an auto http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au...ifications.htm
for a RA23. They are obviously over 1000kg as the RTA allow you to put a 1J into them.
Also http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au...ifications.htm seems to have a TA23 at 970.
Well I give up.
Well apparently on NSW RTA Rego forms its says:
Tare Weight
1040
This is for an RA23 with Chassis Number RA23004286
Also i have Rego papers somewhere of my TA23 if someone needs the weight of that aswell. =]
Hope it helps
Hi,
Well, it's the RTA weight you use - whether it is accurate or not - as they base the engine size paramaters (for upgrades) upon this figure. So, being 1040kg is good news for upgrading.
IIRC the RTA now uses the weight of a vehicle that is the heaviest model in that range. So, they would pick the RA28 weight - as it is the heavier model - for the RA23.

my ta22 says the tare weight is 950kg, i always thought it was 890kg
In my QLD code of practice manual a RA23 is 1044kg RA28 is 1067kg so in qld a RA 23 is allowed 2.6l turbo or 3.13l na
