IIRC the RTA now uses the weight of a vehicle that is the heaviest model in that range. So, they would pick the RA28 weight - as it is the heavier model - for the RA23.

qld transport has the 77 celica at 1067kg (im not sure weather this id the 23 or the 28, i have been told by an engineer he would sign of on either for me)

so by this NA can be upto 4268cc and forced induction can be 2934cc

this is taken straight from the NCOP, i will post a pic of the page if that helps??

Rodi, table LA1 from the NCOP states,

    >800kg = NA x3, boosted x2.5
    800 to 1100kg = NA x4 , boosted x2.75
    +1100 = NA x5, boosted x3

where did you get your QLD code of practice from?? my understanding is that qld runs under the NCOP guidelines....

Easy , i am approved person with blue plate approval and i can tell that QLD 100% sure does not run NCOP and an engineer should use the correct weight for that vehicle in its heaviest form, ei for an rt104 corona you use the weight of a rt104 with auto and wagon, NCOP are supposed to be in by december but they say that every 6 months so dont hold your breathe

wow, way to put me back in my place :-)

can you tell me then why qld uses NCOP for ICV's?? as the owner of a lotus 7 replica (who is planning the build of another ICV) i was working towards using the NCOP as thats what i had been told to do....

do you do ICV work?? if so can you please PM me some details so i can come and have a chat??

    Hi,

scuse my ignorance but what it icv?

And yeah, sux ballz that qld doesn't use the NCOP.... Kinda kills the idea of the NATIONAL part of it.....just like the LAMS thing for bikes. Even though it's a national list, Queenslands is different to the rest of the country......

Thing that sucks though is if an ra28 weighed just 23kgs more (for those following ncop) you could legally put a 2jz in, and by the time you did put it in, it would easily weigh 23kgs more....

ben, ICV is "individually constructed vehicle", which coveres my lotus 7 (the race car i showed you the pics i think??),

basically it covers very small volume builds of cars that people build from scratch at home and then put through engineering to be used on the road...

    Hi,

Yes the GT is heavier because it has the following:-

    - 18R-G engine, which is heavier than the 18R
    - Luxury components, such as air con, power windows, etc
    - F-series diff which is heavier
    - Heavier sports suspension components

What is more interesting is the GTV is slightly (by a few kilos) heavier than the GT. THis is because the GTV was designed for the "weekend racer" as it did not have any luxury components of the GT, but is heavier due to more stiff and strengthened suspension.

However, for proper track racing the GT was almost always selected over the GTV, as it was better to get a GT and remove all the luxury stuff to make it much lighter, which gained it better performance.
