have you tried wurth they have something like this
i will try to find it
it looks like a plain connector with solder inside
insert both ends and heatshrink it and it solders the wire at the same time
Folks
Last I spoke to a guy who did wiring/EFI conversions he made mention of the fact that soldering was being shyed away from and that crimping was the way to go.
I noticed in some of the looms he had made ; that there were little crimp style connectors that connected wires together (if you can imagine a non shielded "scotchlock" almost that can be heatshrinked) was what they looked like...
Any ideas where I can get these ; don't seem to be listed on NARVA and havent scoured jaycar/DSE.......
Cheers...

Deutch' connectors

available from Ashdown Ingram
no idea about Oz costs but they look kinda neat.
A few MSextra guys in OZ are trying them.
Meh, I'm a big fan of my twist/solder/heatshrink method, and ensure all of my looks have a little bit of slack on them to not put any stress on the wiring.

aircraft use something like this, they have crimp, solder and heatshrink all in one package.Originally Posted by ecotechilux
you can get a wire joiner and even their spade etc connectors come with this.
try an avionics supplier
MX83 2JZ-GTE!!
#YOLO.
twist solder heatshrink is fine, where not talking highly sensitive mirco electronics here.
ecotechilux........no. its an non insluated crimp connecttor mate.
chuckster........as above. wurth make some of them cool connectors too.
JCMO......yes, me too......but when a solder joint gets old/dirty ; it also becomes unreliable....a crimp to me will go the distance better.
Placenta........will do.......avionics FTW?
Xistant.......as above.
I'll get a pic of the thing from a commo loom I have and show u.
Ill be interested in what you find, ive just raided some rather large connectors from some looms at the self serve wreckers for the loom ill be making soon. one of them is a 40 pin connector with 4 high current lines! (but you need 2 of them to get enough pins to use all the holes)
I use a triple crimp joiner - I get them from Jay Dee's Electronics in Bayswater.
Jay-dee Auto Cables 19 Ramage St Bayswater 3153 (03) 9720 4864
I get the little coloured terminals (spade, ring, bullet etc) and chop off the insulation & the ring/spade/whatever so it's just the actual crimping part left over. Then use that to crimp & then heatshrink it.
I actually just wired up an Autronic using that method, once you get the hang of it you can do pretty quality joins.
bigworm...........on the money if you imagine the non insulated type connectors ; minus the ring/spade ect - thats what i'm talking about
i have one in a loom from a vn, problem is my camera macro function is shit so can't get a good pic
dammit............bayswater teh other side of the world for me GT....little brass colored thing u crimp down on a couple of cables is it?
Can't get dirty covered in heatshrink, and the unreliability shouldn't happen if it's not under and stress and you do it properlyOriginally Posted by Grega

You can get straight connectors, from marine shops that have solder integrated into them. Just strip wire enough to overlap each other fully, insert from each end and heat. It solders and shrinks and watertight seals in one.

Same here mate and what's worse, I don't think they're open on the weekend.Originally Posted by Grega
Ya, little brass thing. Crimps down on one wire over the insulation, same on other side and in the middle it crimps down on the exposed wire. I slide a bit of heatshrink over the lot and Bob's your uncle. Glenn (RA45Celica) put me on to them.
